1954 pest control act

I read some where (in snip-its) about the 1954(i think) pest control act ,where it states that a land owner has an obligation to control pest species on his land by law .
As any body got the full version of this act that i could have a look at.
Does any one know if this act still applies.

the DEFRA website is good on this subject, and, if I remember correctly, specifically mentions landowners' obligations.
