if you take off vat at 17.5% it would bring it down to the 500 mark.

now lets bare in mind they are a shop and they are there to make a living.

they give you 400 and put it on the shelf at say 450

as a business they have to pay VAT so lets add that on

then they have to have it sat on the shelf which becomes dead money while it is sat there.

As a business i would say they offered a bit more than what others would.

of course if you sold privatly then you are bound to achive a greater price

lets say

which would be pretty fair prices
