Next door neighbour wants a springer so that he can shoot without the need of a bottle.

He has about a $1,000 for the rifle in mind.

Since he is used to a PCP smoothness of action and "user friendliness" is probably more of an issue than sheer ftlbage but that said a .22 minimum of 17-18 is probably also in order.

So - that narrows it to a PE, a Venom 80 with a posh stock, a Tommahawk and.....

My gut reaction is that a nicely tuned Venom 80 would fit the bill nicely but then I might be wrong.

I'm also going to try to convince him that a gas-ram should fit the bill and therefore include an Eliminator in the list....

Thanks chaps.

All look good to me apart from the Tomahawk which I can't comment on since I've not shot one wound up.
PE is the bargain rifle with the right spring in it and well capable. Eliminator will be adjustable ( with the pump).
Venom will be the prettiest.

Do not underestimate the Tomahawk as a decent machine, mine is only 12ftlb shortstroked but it is easy and a delight to shoot, may I suggest a venom tuned Tomahawk running at its designed 18ftlb, I imagine it should be really sweet. That's if you can still get one.

an OTB FAC Tomahawk has a serious jolt, so it's probably not a good choice as a back up gun for a PCP shooter concerned about hold sensitivity. Mac-1 Airguns in CA. is the US Venom distributor and tuner, so check out a Venom R-1(80). Tim also sells the Venomized Tomahawks, and he could tell you which one is the smoothest with good power. RB
