Re Blueing

I have a few scatches on my silencer....how do you apply blueing...ie soft rag..is it like a paint with out undercoat.as I have never done it before

degrease the area with solvent , and if just fine scratches dip a cotton bud in bluing compound and go over scratch until you achieve a match,
wipe residue off with soapy water in between aplications of blue, then wipe with oil,
if the scratches are deep you may need to wire wool the area first,

Cold Blue drys almost instantly.

You are meant to wash off the barrel after 30 seconds once you have applied each coat of Cold gun blue.
