I took out Roger the FAC Rapid (damn i'm starting to sound like Gary c) for a walk in the warmth of an early Berkshire morning, on the request of a local farmer to deal with some feral's, well this was my first pest control job with the gun since buying it from Baz last month, and it behaved faultlessly, running at a sweet 30ft/lbs, and topped with a 6.5-20x50 WTC.
The first shot was a feral in a barn at around 45yrds and a well placed body shot dropped it like a stone, with the .22 Air Arms field pellet cutting the early morning air, and going right through the feral and ending up in the shiplap planking that the barn is made of. The second shot was at around sixty yards and took the feral from the apex of an adjoining barn, again it dropped like a stone, and was dead before it hit the ground, again the pellet going right through, but as I was shooting out over open fields it was no worry, but it was just as I was going to pick up the last feral that I turned behind the barn to be confronted with a Rabbit at about 50yrds, so I steadied myself for a standing shot by using the corner of the barn as a rest and took up aim just behind its left eye, a gentle squeeze on the trigger, and thwock, a quick jump into the air and it rolled over deader than a very dead thing, on dead day in deadsville. And then just to round off the morning I picked off a woodie on my way back to the van with another of the 5.51 lead payload carried in the 12 shot rotary magazine, of this very accurate and quiet gun, thanks to the Logun silencer.
Thanks Baz, think I will keep it <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::cool:-->

Sounds like you had a good day Kev. Points to note that were missing from your RAG (Real Air Gunners <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D-->) write up:

1. The Rapid is topped off with a blah blah blah scope.

2. and it's running real sweet at blah blah blah Ft/Lbs.

I am playing with a Logun at the moment, and the fields are 5.51, although I am nearly out of those so will be switching to 52 very soon.

Have a look at the Ripley silencer as well, I hear good things about it, and am on the look out for one myself. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:;)--> I have some 52's here if you fancy trying some, can always send you some over.

Tried some 52's in the gun tonight, not at all impressed, too many flyers, I am going to try again after work tomorrow, as I have a rabbit job on tomorrow night. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Roll Eyes" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::rolleyes:-->

Kev, is there really that much diff betwen 5.51s and 5.52 ?

Can you hold back like 10 of each, I want to determine the ACTUAL size differences please..very curious (yeah, I know this might sounds a bit sad...) <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:;)-->

Also, one of my new Rapid barrels does not like the AAs (5.52), but shoots 1/4" at 30 yards with accs and H&Ns <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::)-->

The .177 LOVES Bob's 9.5 gr Exterminators at 30 yards (about 1/8" groups) <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::)-->

Gota do some 60 / 100 yards stuff at the club on Friday <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:;)-->

Shotgun patten at 45yds Jon <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_frown.gif" alt="Frown" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::(--> will bring down some of each to Cobham Friday, must try and find some 51's now <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Roll Eyes" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::rolleyes:-->

Do you have any of Bob's .22 exterminators?

the AA Field shotgun patterned in my FAC Rapid if thats any consolation, i stick to Bis Mag they hit hard, are really accurate at long range, nice groups at 100 yards, and are less affected by wind!

The rifle heaved itself perfectly to the shoulder

The rifle snuggled cosily into the shoulder

The rifle burrowed stiffly into my shoulder

The rifle fitted my shoulder like a well worn slipper

The rifle nestled sensually to my shoulder

The rifle leapt into my hands............
and I lost the will to live.
