View Full Version : How much difference can a barrel make?

I was just wondering, I currently (as of yesterday:D ) own a s10 carbine. There is very little clearance between the silencer and the buddy bottle, so if I want to get a better silencer, or the 400cc bottle, I will also need to purchase a new barrel. Now, it's my understanding that the carbine is set up to allow more air down the barrel as the barrel istelf is shorter (but I may be wrong). Would this mean that if I simply bought a longer barrel it would push it over the legal power limit? It's probably not even something I'm going to do, but it's just for future reference really. Thanks for any help,
Chris

I have the s10K mk3 and the 400cc bottles do not fit (this INFO came from BSA them selves). Some thing to do with the stock not barrel length.
Ive also had the barrel screw cut to accept many of the after market silencers (Weihrauch silencer being the quietist)
A longer Barrel WILL take you over the legal limit. But by how much I have no idea.
Cheers

I thought it was because the 400cc bottle is wider and as a result cannot fit underneath the silencer, only on the full-length rifle. As far as I know the stocks are identical for both the carbine and full length. Where did you have the barrel screw cut? And how much did it cost? Thanks,
Chris

BSA screw cut the barrel as I asked before the riffle left the factory for it to be done. It cost me £35 but don’t now if that was BSA or the dealer making a pound or two.
The mk3 stock has the fancy front end on it (there is a proper name for it but cannot spell it). Making the neck of the 400cc bottle to fat/wide to reach the threads and not sealing properly.
Its fine on the mk2 I was told.
Cheers

the 400cc bottle will fit fine on a mk2 full length, but is to long for the carbine version and also a longer barrel will take you over the limit and a reg adjustment would be in order.
If this is what you wanted to do i would take it to John Bowkett he`s the s10 god
