Hey,

I was just wondering what camouflage everyone uses? I use British Army DPM-95, pants, shirt and jacket. They seem to work well when in woodland.

Thanks it would be interesting to see what others use!

I got This (http://www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk/ishop/1069/shopscr40.html) a few months back. Top notch considering the price. ;)

That is a good deal certainly.

All I have added to that is DPM Goretex overtrousers - great for sitting in a hide or the bushes when the ground is wet. Also a peaked cap and some scrim to drape over the top to hide my ugly mug !

Just get a size or two bigger than you need so that you can go with the layering approach the Army uses depending on weather - cold or hot etc.

Can't beat it really - cheap and tough + designed for our countryside.

Cheers + ATVB

Philip.

Currently I go with DPM 82 pattern.

However I swear by Flecktarn particulalrly the danish or dutch versionI(I cant remember which country it is) if you can get it. Germans good too though. I have used it and its bloody bloody good stuff IMO

Also what I have found is US pattern stuff is rubbish. It seems to fade the first time its goes anywhere near any washing powder. But that could just be my experiences with it.

The beauty of Flecktarn is that despite it's obvious military origins, it doesn't make you look as much of a soldier wannabe as the traditional DPM that you see on every council estate in England. It's cheap too. Although I'd advise you to stay away from the really old Flecktarn..... the stuff with the SS runes and the deaths head on the collars.... not very PC if you get my drift. :D

Can't see that link but to be honest all you NEED is a drab pair of trousers and top and to cover as much pink flesh as possible.
Depending of course on quarry.
Rabbits are colour blind and will react quicker to noise, smell and movement than anything else. Birds vary but for the most have stunning eyesight.

Best reasons to choose cam and clothing are, 1. what you look like to people (Realtree designs will make you appear as a serious hunter/pest controller, DPM will make you look like you think you're hard and want to kill people), 2. how much you can afford to pay for clothing that will get ripped to pieces on barbed wire and 3. how comfy you want to be.

I use the German version. The Danish version is very good though (the Dutch use something very similar (identical?) to British DPM).

Here's a nice site comparing German and Dutch flecktarn type cammos:

I use Realtree Mossy Oak, it's very effective in the mainly chestnut and oak woods I shoot in. My wife has the same stuff and all you can see of her is blond hair walking through the woods. She has to wear a fluorescent orange band on her arm so that the dog can find her.

Milsurp clothing = cheap, practical, hard wearing

The main problem with milsurp is, if you want breathable waterproof you don't get hard-wearing and if you want hard wearing you don't get breathable waterproof. So I end up wearing my BW Flecktarn Gore-tex(?) jacket and trousers as liners for a DPM combats, which seems silly, but works after a fashion.

Seldom wash it so it has that country smell ! Sheep poo to you.
Welsh farmers can't resist it:D
Don't wash your kit with washing powders as the additives will reflect ultra violet and make you 'glow' in birds vision.(They see the ultra violet wavelenghts as do insect do).
Flowers to insects look very different in colour and tone.
Soap flakes only.

My first post (blush!!!!) so hi all.

I agree with Mad Pierre:
I use an old green tweed jacket (I bought it for a tenner 10yrs ago in a S/H shop in Ireland), whatever breeks I happen to have on and a hat.

It’s a night time deal where I live but a few years back regularly at the ex’s on the Black Isle, using the same clothing combo with the addition of gloves and a midge hood (over the hat & face) I would just sit still and wait for woodies to come to me. Well come to their regular drinking hole with me sitting by a tree, nearby. The crack was to then very slowly bring the gun to bare and try and get one for a sandwich. This worked quite well after a bit of trial and quite a few errors.

I do have an advantage fleece lined cap, which I wear to the pub.

I waited till the wife wasn't looking, shoved the smock and trousers in the washing machine on a 40 degree wash with no powder in it. Did that twice and it seemed to get all the charcoal out. :D For £8 off of e b a y, i didn't mind if it got knackered in the machine but it seems fine. Never washed it since. :o You could leave the charcoal in but it's not very pliable. ;)
