They always seem to have an interesting catalogue of air guns. Trouble is there don't seem to be any pix on the net- do they publish any? Any other comments?

They tend only to publish pictures of the high end items I'm afraid. However, I have been to several of their auctions and got some bargains.
The sealed bids for the cheaper stuff is well worth having a go at. I got a near new Voere .270 rifle for £60 !

How does that work, is your bid your bid, or do they bid up to your bid (if you see what I mean)

Ie, if you bid £100, and the only other bid is £50, do you pay the full £100, or only £55 (or £60 or whatever the bid increments were)?

It looked from their site as if you paid £100 but I wasn't quite sure.

Sealed bids are different to proxy bidding - the price you say is the price you pay - if you win! Say, you will pay £100 for a gun - but in a normal auction room the final bid is £50 you pay £50, but by sealed bid you bid £100, you win, you pay £100.

The other thing to bear in mind in a sealed bid auction that it is easy to place bids on a number of guns in the belief that you will only probably succeed in getting say 50% of them.
I did that once in a holts sealed bid sale and ended up getting everything that I bid on. 14 airguns !!
Had a bit of a problem explaining that lot to the wife:rolleyes: She was well happy:mad:
Managed to move a few on which helped to subsidise the ones that I kept.

The moral of this story is don't go mad as you may well get the lot, and only pay the maximum that gun is worth to you - no more!

Jerry, when it comes to collecting airguns, I know the doghouse really well!!

Mine is decorated with bone wallpaper just like the Wallis and Grommit cartoon:D

These days I seem to spend most of my time in there:eek:

Even I don't know how much I am going to spend on the Falke rearsight!!!

That is going to be a voyage of discovery like no other:D

I have imagined looking down the air rifle column on flea-bay, and seeing one advertised for a fiver with 2 pounds post and packing:rolleyes:

Then I wake up and realise that it will probably cost me a bit more than that before I'm through.

Oh well, if I will collect these rare things :)

As my dad used to say " Nothing in life worth having is ever easy "

I went to the last one just before Christmas. They had a viewing of all the stuff in the sealed bid auction in Hamersmith. Didn't bid on anything but they had some good stuff there. For example a Webley MK3 Supertarget in very good condition that went for £160. Remember though there is a 17.5% comission plus VAT on all winning bids. There were also quite a few pre war BSA's, an Original 50 and a FWB300 (made only 110 from memory)
