These are the basics for those that have kit like on board computers and maps. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D-->

From the South.....

M6 J14

Follow signs for A34 Stone (Stone is @ 7 miles)

from A34 turn on A520 to Stone (Stone @ 1 mile from this turn-off)

In Stone pick up B5027 to Uttoxeter.

Shoot is at 'Painley Farm' which is on the B5027 @ 8.5 miles from Stone (@ 1 mile after 'Field') just before Bramshall.

From the North.....

M6 J15

A500 heading for Stoke

After a couple of miles turn onto A34 heading south towards Stafford and Stone (Stone is @ 7 miles from this turn off).

Just prior to Stone on A34 at double roundabouts turn onto B5027 to Stone.

In Stone pick up B5027 to Uttoxeter.

Shoot is at 'Painley Farm' which is on the B5027 @ 8.5 miles from Stone (@ 1 mile from 'Field') just before Bramshall.

You may find alternative options coming from the Uttoxeter side but I'll leave that up to you.

I'll amend these to more detailed directions (particularly around the one-way system around Stone) closer to the date.

Remember this is a HFT style shoot using FT type knockdown targets.

Everyone welcome......do a search for Bramshall for the other threads.

Cheers

Boz

Hi Boz

Maybe, but it is Millride on that afternoon, so it depends whether it is a morning or an afternoon thing - and I may be rifleless!!!

Dave

Unless the weather goes mental over the next couple of weeks the car park / camping area is well drained and should be no probs. I'll ask about rates but I'd of thought the usual £5 per unit was about right.

Facilities down by the shoot (camping/car park right next to shoot) include permanent plumbed-in Men's and Ladies flushing toilets with washbasins and running water (cold only I think). there is an external tap for water.

Lee

I see you are selling your MFR ......even I was hitting things with that....

I would have thought the shoot was not going to be early morn.....prob 11am or Midday through the afternoon. A few folks will have 3 or 4 hours to travel so they don't want to be setting off too early in the morning in Jan.

Be nice to see you there....but I know you have Millride to organise.

I’ve been looking here on Streetmap.co.uk.

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=403720&y=333680&z=5&sv=405000,335000&st=4&ar=Y&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf

Is that about right?

North or South side of the B5027?
East or West of the railway?

I’ll be dropping in by helicopter (in my dreams <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D--> )

The arrow on Koz's map is bang on....

On that map South of the B5027........can't remember any railway lines as I drive from Stone (apart from the ones in Stone that you cross) so I presume West of those.

In our old Citroen as I crossed the little bridge over the stream just East of 'Field' I clocked @ 1mile to entrance to farm. (Remember 'Field' is about two houses and a stable).

If you are on the B5027 in that area you will see the entrance sign that I have made (OK nicked from a local papershop). If you look from the road (B5027) you will see the green mesh of the paintball site a couple of hundred yards away (looks a bit like a garden nursery).

Thanks Koz

Yep Dave .... that's the website

Cheers

Lee........I'll have word with Pete and see what time he reckons. I'm just trying to give you guys a chance to get there without having to set off too early in the morn. I'll have a drive up bramshall and suss out pubs an take-aways. It can only be @ 5 mins from uttoxeter and that is quite a busy town.

Just an additional thought....

If you look at Doveridge on the map....just East of Uttoxeter.......you can see that this venue is only 10 mins from Bramshall.

Doveridge is another excellent venue.

In the summer we could have a brilliant weekender at Doveridge and Bramshall. Camp up at Bramshall then shoot Doveridge on the Sat.....beers at the campsite at Bramshall and then shoot a course at Bramshall on the Sunday.

Hmmmmmmmm...... I'll do some homework on that!

Thats one fat bloke, caravan and mutt for the weekend.

Whats the charge to use that new bit of road?
Might as well slow it down with a caravan convoy.

Great news Lee.

I was talking to the farmer, Rob, today and he says he'll do the camping/caravanning for £5 on this occasion. It is normally more expensive than that. He is a very helpful guy.

Uttoxeter is only 3.6 miles away (East on the B5027). As soon as you start entering Uttoxeter there is....

A Pizza/kebab/nuggets/Burger place called Sergeant Peppers tel 01889 566776/01889 568106

A Chinese (take-away available) called Ruby Chinese 01889 562888

2 chippies

Shopping centre

All within hundred yards of each other.

The nearest pub is the The Old Bramshall Inn @ 1.6 miles away (East on B5027). Nice pub selling bar meals from 'lite bites' to more extravagant meals.

The nearest B+B is 1 mile away (East on B5027). This is a farmhouse type guesthouse which has 3 rooms. Price is £25 per person per night including full breakfast. There is another B+B called the West Lodge which is a nice looking property with a croquet lawn at the front. This is next door to the Old Bramshall Inn (handy). I don't have prices for this at the moment.

Other options for accomodation are...

Travel Inn Uttoxeter (http://www.travelinn.co.uk/TI/index.jsp?page=inn&id=308)

Travelodge Uttoxeter (http://www.travelodge.co.uk/travelodge/location.php?site_no=501)

Oldroyd House Uttoxeter (http://home.freeuk.com/oldroyd/)

All details kindly provided by Rob the farmer.

The Travelodge are doing rooms at £30 per night for 2 adults and 2 children (max) En Suite.

McDonalds, Little Chef and Burger King are minutes away from the accomodation in Uttoxeter.

If there are enough people coming on Sat we could perhaps meet for a beer and/or some food.

Might as well put some detailed directions up and bump this up....

From the North..

M6 J15.....take A500 heading for Stoke.

Exit A500 and turn right at roundabout onto A34 heading South to Stafford/Stone.

Note Stone is @ 7 miles from this point. This part of the A34 is full of speed cams, especially after Trentham Gardens roundabout. The speed limit fluctuates between 60 and 40MPH. Please take care.

Just before Stone at double roundabouts exit A34 and pick up B5027 to Stone. Go under railway bridge and then over canal bridge. Shortly after canal bridge all traffic is fed left into the clockwise one way system around Stone. As soon as you are fed into this system get into the right hand lane.

**********************************************
You will see the signs for Uttoxeter B5027, which will take you around a right bend. Once around this bend get into the left hand lane. You go past a supermarket on your left and through pedestrian crossing lights. At the next set of lights you must turn left......still on the B5027 to Uttoxeter. Stay on this road for a couple of mins and go past Stone cricket club. At a pair of mini roundabouts you turn left.....still on B5027 to Uttoxeter. The shoot is 8.5 miles from this point and is directly off this road. Go over railway crossing and past Little Stoke cricket club on your right. You will eventually go through Milwich and then Field. The shoot is @ 1.5 miles after Field just before Bramshall. You will see the entrance to the car park and shoot signposted just before Painley Hill farm.

From South.....

M6 J14......take A34 to Stone.

Note There is a cracking piece of dual carriageway here which is a long straight decline. This used to be a great place for seeing how fast your new car could go. However the limit is 60MPH and they have now put a speed cam at the bottom of the decline......must make a fortune....don't contribute. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:;)-->

Just prior to Stone you turn right at a roundabout onto A520. The A520 takes you into Stone and then feeds you into the clockwise one way system. Look for signs A520 Leek and then get in right hand lane and look for signs B5027 to Uttoxeter.

Now follow directions after asterisks above.

Hopefully see you there.

How do we know we are just b4 the farm? Is the a big sign sayin panic you are now too near the farm, drive 10 miles b4 you can do a u turn?

The thought of that dual caragway sounds good, any one want to have a towing the caravan race down it with out exceeding the speed limit?

Up North Lee farms are large brick buildings in the country with barns, cows, sheep and tractors.......so when you see one of them.......you are just before it!

Is Bramshall on a main a road or some dodgy little country b road?
Dont bear thinking about if you end up going down tiny lanes with a van and some muppet expecting to back up half a mile.

Bramshall is on the B5027.

This is not a tiny country road. It is a decent sized road that you can fly down in a car and go as fast as you can whilst pulling your caravan.

If you are crawling along like an old lady, overtaking is no problem.

There are no speed cams along the B5027 from Stone so get your foot down and enjoy!

Ok bozz lets test the brain matter again.
The best route for us duwn south seems to be m1, A50 then cut across. On my 100miles to one inch map, similar to wht my office use to plan our days work, it shows the A50 as being dual carageway. Is it a good road or not worth useing?
Whats Uttoexter like for finding your way round?
Works out about 40miles shorter and not geting caught round birmingham.

Thanks Lee

A50 is a pretty major road......mostly dual carriageway from the M1. Use it if you wish.

As for Uttoxeter ...... I'm not all that familiar with the logistics of the town. I have travelled through it on occasions to play cricket. I would have thought it was pretty simple......just find the B5027 on your map and the farm is about 3.5 miles from that end (Uttoxeter).

I have played cricket at Bramshall and we used to go via the A50 and then pick up the B5027 which is in the town centre......up to you mate.

Good luck

I'll see you on Saturday......me and the good Lady Boz (Dodger) are planning to be there most of Saturday and stay and prob have a beer with you campers Sat evening......may even nip down the pub for an hour.....may even go completely mad and stay local in a B&B (We are about 40 mins away from home).
