Hi
Had my Hawke mil dot 6.5-20x50AOIR Nite-eye for about 12 weeks, supposed to be fogproof, waterproof and shockproof and rated for spring guns  .
Firstly dirt appeared on inside, black spots on inside ocular lens. Then it started rattling as my HW97k shook everything loose, even the lenses came loose. Contacted a well known air rifle shop in Blackpool, was told that quite a few Hawke scopes had experienced similar problems :( .
Mil dot reticle quite nice but Gorilla's hands needed to turn on IR, as very tight overall not good value. At £160+mounts+sunshade+flip up covers
Optics never seamed as clear as MTC or Simmons, worth paying extra £40 or so for MTC as comes with mounts, flip up covers and sun shade. ;)
Maybe somebody has had similar experience with Hawke

My shooting partner has a hawke night eye and when we were out the other night the zero kept changing to the extent that the up/down turet was to the max and it was still shooting low at 50 yards but then it changed again we checked all the obvious things like scope mount ect but its still not helping very off puting and frustraiting:confused:

Must be a problem with the night eyes. Pepperdog said his was a nighteye. I cant complain about the pro stalk, its always been completely reliable.

Hi
sent it back, hoping to get a replacement. Supposed to have 10 year limited warranty, whatever that means. Could mean it will get replaced if they feel like it. Got it mail order from a place in Horsham(a*******direct, after 28 days all liability is down to manufacturer :( . Service not as good as place in Blackpool that we all know.

Crap - from: http://www.dti.gov.uk/consumers/fact-sheets/page38311.html
It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract
AND
If a consumer chooses to request a repair or replacement, then for the first six months after purchase it will be for the retailer to prove the goods did conform to contract (e.g. were not inherently faulty)
You just need to be confident and explain its down to them.
HTH,
Darren.

Hi
following up on previous post, got Hawke scope back from Deban Group Industries this morning. Been replaced with a new one, only taken 4 working days from me posting last Fri.:)
I am not that happy with scope, but cannot fault service, first class :).
I don't think I'll put it on my springer again, don't want a repeat performance

I know where Deben have their scopes made and they are decent quality. When you pay over £100 for a scope you are not getting a Milk Bottle. The prices of Chinese optics have always been low, quality is driving up. There is crap out there but Deben scopes are not crap.
You get a decent scope for a decent price with excellent back up and good national supply.
When you are looking for a scope don't discount Deben because of a scope snobs view. Look through all the scopes in your price range and make up your own mind

Just a few years ago Hawke produced some of the direst scopes to ever grace a gun. The sidewinder was undoubtedly a bad joke foisted on us by marketing men who simply can't have shot a gun in their lives. The old airmax was a milk bottle bottom quality scope. Only the cheap Reflex stood out as a decent effort. These days they have removed their collective digits from their corporate bumhole and actually make some decent scopes. They have listened to shooters and actually taken advice from folk who know how to shoot an airgun. The SR range have one of the best reticles ever designed and have optics that are now perfectly useable. I know many well informed shooters who've opted for the SR6 over scopes at three or more times the price. I am one of them.

I've had Hawke varmint 11 scopes on my rifles now for 4 years and they are a nice bit of kit all day long.I've had them on powerful springers(eliminator) and been on my rapid now for 4years without ever to re-zero and very accurate.
I brought a Hawke nite-eye last year to fit on my carrer ,as I went to fit it I noticed the rough finish on the scope and inside were the sun-shade screws on,tried to screw it no but it were'nt having it,sent the scope back to uttings, replaced it for me and so this time I changed my mind and put it on the mfr.About 7months on I noticed little black speks inside the scope, thought nothing of it,as time went by the scope was getting worse, phone up uttings sent it,this time I was not going to replace it I was going to get a varmint11,much much superior then the nite-eye but I wanted a low-light scope for shooting and I asked about the MTC scopes, did abit of finding out and told uttings to hold on to the money and I will pay the diffrence and got meself one of these mtc scopes 4-16x50.
It really packs alot of surprise's the mtc scope, best len's,very well made, alot of xtra goodies and a point-able scope, yes they are afew pounds more then a varmint but as my old man say's "you get what you pay for".
I wont sell the varmint's as they are perfect on my rifles but come when they decide to give up or start to turn 20 odd colours iside the scope then I will replace them all with a mtc.:)

I had my Airmax SR6 for a year and now I have a Falcon Merlin and Bushnell Legend. While the SR6's optics aren't quite as good as the last two scopes, I still found it to be a very good scope. It held its zero too and was perfectly accurate for me. I wouldn't rule out buying another one, although I feel rather spoiled at present. For me, going above £350 now for a new scope wouldn't be worth it as I would be entirely happy with the quality of the products below this price. And, of course, as time moves on, the quality/price ratio should continue to improve.

In the last three weeks I have had three Hawke spotting scopes, one Maksutov-Cassegrain £139 it broke within three days, Two Frontier 15-45x65 £300 each the first had a cracked lens and the second had a loose prisim all were sent back and I got a refund on the cost of the scopes but I still had to pay the return postage a total of £30. Hawke are trying to move up market but with there present product line up they will stay where they belong the crappist place of all the bottom.

Have owned the above scopes for several years and have found these to be top performing in the relative price range. In fact I don't realy like using anything else. They both hold excellent zero and are strong waterproof and rubust and have recieved heavy hunting abuse .
I now own an MTC Viper alongside the SR12 , the MTC is a class piece of kit, but if I'm perfectly honest at high mag I dont seem much difference in the glass between this and my SR.
There seems to be a a bit of an anti Hawke bandwagon kicking about, this Im sure is justified be several of scopes Hawke make, all I can say is that the SR scopes are quality and the reticle should be applauded not ripped to pieces.
lets face it everybody is after the MP20 (?) reticle on the MTC etc. Same idea, however i find the SR easier to read and clearer in low light level shooting (might just be me:rolleyes:).
As many have said, try a scope and make your own opinions:rolleyes::rolleyes: The beauty this forum offers all its members is that you can buy kit try it and sell it if you dont like it without loosing a fourtune.:D most times just the postage.
SR's get the big thumbs up form me:D The MTC Viper is also a great piece of kit.

My brother has a surplus Pro-stalk 5-20x50 which he replaced with a leupy.
It's got a few usage marks on the AO shroud and mount areas and has a deben sticker on it if that means anything.
Could somone indicate an approximate value and does anyone want one please?

I have 2 off Hawke Reflex 3-9x40, one was fitted to my springer, but the front lens popped off twice - both times it was fixed by Hawke with no hassle.
I moved that scope to my HMR where I have had no problems
When JSR had a deal on Hawke scopes I bought another one and have that on my .22lr replacing the Nikko Sterling Gold Crown - which I didn't rate the optics on.
These scopes are faultless on my rimfires but I wouldn't have one on a springer again.
After Sales service from Deben Hawke is excellent though - so happy that I bought another one

I acquired a second hand hawke nite eye 6.5-20x50IR recently.
Does the remainder of the 10 year warranty pass over to me, or is it only valid with the original purchaser?
I have no reciept for it?

I think its 10 years on the scope, not the person,I've sent stuff back for maintenence and not had to pay a penny. All second hand gear:eek:, never been asked for a receipt either.

I have a pro stalk 4-14 x 50 on my hw97k with no problems at all :) but im on my 3rd reflex 4-10 x 44 on my hw80k  the previous one the front lense fell to bits and the 1st one the retical lense came loose  this was over a considerable time so you can imagine my frustration when my shots were going all over the place and i thought it was me

I had a 2.5-10x Varmint on my old S10k which I couldn't fault, I now have an SR6 Nighteye on my Mk3 Sport which is used only for hunting and again is faultless.
It's had some serious tests in all weather and survived a drop whilst on the rifle (dink to the front of that lovely stock:o:( and also around the PA adj. ring on the scope) but all it needed was 5 minutes to re-zero and it's been spot on since.
There's always going to be the odd item of poor quality in whatever you buy but I have to say, I've been more than impressed with the Hawke scopes I've had and the ret on the SR6 is perfect for 12ftlb hunting ranges.

They call me scopewrecker at my club because I have gone through a number of makes and models in my time. Hawke always replace them without question. That 10 yr guarantee cannot be faulted. If the shop gets funny brush up on your Sale of Goods act!
I have had no problems on PCP's - it has always been on spring guns/gas ram and I used these type of guns more than other club members. I really recommmend a Dampa mount - expensive but had no trouble since using them. This is a mount that absorbs the recoil effect on a scope by the use of rubber bushes in the mount. JSR do them - 1 piece mount £38.95. You should always use a one piece on a springer in my opinion.

Hawke pro-stalk 4-14x50. Had it a few years. Its spent time on Daystate 177, HMR and .22lr. No problems.
I too have used a Hawke pro stalk 4-14x50 since I started shooting 3 years ago. I got it for £75 from Optics with free mounts, delivery and BC flip-ups, which was half price at the time! It has never lost its zero ever and has now been on my FAC rapid for nearly 2 years and is spot on every session! Good light gathering ability in low light too! Worth the money in my opinion.
