Can anyone offer some advice on a scope problem.

I have a 6-24x50 BSA Contender scope on my Ultra - not a patch on my superb MTC Viper but a good useable daytime scope all the same. Last night, shooting rabbits, I found I was missing with every shot - unusual even for my fairly basis level of skill! I had zeroed earlier so I knew that the combo was spot on at the start of the session.

On investigation, I found that whilst the scope was sitting dead level on the rifle, the 30/30 reticle seemed to have rotated about 15-20 degrees anti-clockwise:confused:. I'd obviously been canting the rifle more and more to the right to compensate - throwing the aim all to c*ck.

I can't see any obvious way to resolve the problem (or why it's happening) and realign the ret', so can it be fixed or do I use it as a risible excuse to bin it and buy another Viper?

Thanks, Adam.

Whatever its age, give BSA a call and explain the problem. Maybe they can solve it for you?

BSA have always been very good for me - in fact they are sending out a pair of caps FOC for me as we speak for a 3-12 contender i bought last week.

if you ring through to the service dept. they may be able to help you.

i think they are cracking scopes for the money - far better than equivalent priced hawke units in my experience but obviously - compared to a viper at nearly double the price...... it aint gonna be as good.

Thanks for the advice - I'm just waiting for the 'scope man' at BSA to call me back...

I agree that, in my limited experience, BSA scopes are decent kit - I've used mine (bought on here) for the last year or so and much prefer it to the AGS TruHunter and Hawke Nitehunter scopes I have on other rifles.

Unfortunately, I splashed out on the MTC Viper from Shooting Supplies in Bromsgrove recently and it's spoiled me a bit - all my other scopes are found a bit wanting! I suspect I'll need little excuse to pick up another one, either on here or direct from MTC at the Midland;).
