Hi
I am new to the forum so hi to all and hopefully someone can help.
I have been living in France for a number of years and now back in UK.
Prior to leaving I held an FAC originally for handguns pre Dunblane and latterly for hi capacity shotgun for PSG.I let ticket lapse because it was not neccessary in France (licencing takes a different form over there).Although I do hold a french hunting licence which entitles me to hold just about any gun that can be used for hunting including solid slug shotguns.
I digress but the question now is can I hold an FAC when I do not live in a house? I live in a converted coach (motorhome). Is there any precedent for this?
Help please
Mike

The Home Office Firearms Guidance to Police allows for this:

19.20 If the certificate holder’s dwelling is a
mobile home or static caravan, a different set
of security concepts should be adopted.
Details will be found in the “Firearm Security
Handbook”. These are primarily concerned
with the anchorage of the structure. That
structure’s capability to store items securely
may well require that an extra layer of
security is needed to “target harden” the unit.
It is unlikely that a gun room can
satisfactorily be constructed within such a
dwelling or unit of this type.

You will need a fixed address for correspondence though.

I'm pretty sure there's at least one member on here who lives on a boat with an FAC.

Best option would be to check with Middlemoor, they are generally very helpful.

So it seems it is possible subject to the normal condition.
Like reason for ,hunting permission and land authorisation or club membership.
Any further info would be appreciated.
ie. has anyone on here been turned down because they dont live in a normal house (a friend of mine in London was turned down because his house was made of wood).
As previously stated I guess you would still need a postal address.
What if you moved frequently ? would you have to continuosly re registering?
Thanks Again

With your situation I think the best all round advice would be to join the BASC (which is highly reccomended in any case) as not only will they be able to answer your questions, they will also be able to help you through the application process, which in your case may be a little different to the norm.

Should you get knocked back on your FAC for any reason then again, the BASC will help you through the appeal process.

My advice? Join the BASC.

Looks like I will be renewing my longtime lapsed membership to BASC then.
