Thank you for taking part in the first comp welldone to everyone! There's some changes for this competition. There will be four categories, just need to know your criteria for each one. If your name's not down, you're not coming in :D

I've set the date as follows.

Competition:Saturday 31st May - Saturday 7th June
(That people shoot at the club, they have two saturdays)

Submit Scores: Saturday 31st May - Saturday 7th June
(By PM only the latest being 7th 16:00 or score won't count, once ALL scores are in they will be made public, gives it more suspence. ;))

Public Scores: Sunday 8th June

Categories Score Sheet

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b312/PaddyE/Pistol%20Competition/JuneSingleSheet-1.jpg

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b312/PaddyE/Pistol%20Competition/FinalPCPsheet.jpg

I just need your PISTOL,TYPE & CALIBRE that is being used

I think that will be enough entries for Spring, Single Stroke, Co2 & PCP for me to handle. Sorry for anyone who was thinking of partcipitating.

If you can see PCP & Single Stroke has a different percentage merit than the other two categories. You were all to good with the Single Stroke on the last one :p

The rules :

Type: Spring Pistol / Single Stroke Pistol / Co2 /PCP (to be stated when submitting score).

Sights: Open sights only

Stance: Top two targets two handed / Bottom two targets one handed (that way it caters for everyone & abit different)

Targets: Follow link on post #1 >HERE< (http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270186) using the target with 4 targets on it.

Range: Set at 6yds (That is the longest I can shoot in the back garden)

Shots: 10/15 practice shots, then 5 shots per target

Date: Anytime in the first week of every month. Starting May 31st.

Scoring: If the pellet breaks into two points i.e 8 & 9, you score the highest number

Final scores: PM me with scores by Saturday 7th 16:00.
(earlier the better, so I can keep up to date easier)

Update scores: I'll put on the thread Sunday 8th.

If anyone has any questions just let me know & good luck.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm still running a virtual badge system, according to the scores that we get.
They are as follows :-
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b312/PaddyE/Pistol%20Competition/Percentages.jpg

I will have all your scores worked out in percentage & award the relative virtual badge. :D

This Months badge design will be done by Firestorm.

Then each month someone else can design a different set of badges.

Regards
Paddy. :)

Hi Paddy,
No option for all 4 then?:D
OOPS! Just realised you can tick as many boxes as you want:D

If allowed I'll do all 4 with the following:-

SSP = Gamo Compact .177 Hobby
Spring = HW45 .177 Hobby
PCP. = Rohm Top .177 Hobby
CO2 = Drulov DU10 .177 Hobby

Last 2 subject to testing.

Cheers

Hi Paddy

Looks like an interesting variation (the two-handed & one-handed bit), so please log me for a 'go' in the June round.

I'll be shooting an HW75 (girlie calibre) - so in the SSP class.

Do we have to stick with a nominated pellet? Not a big issue but, depending on my mood and time of the month, I have tended to switch between RWS CO2 Target and Dynamit Nobel Diabolokugein fur Gewehre und Pistolen (fit that in your box :))

I won't have to download the target .... as t'was mine in the first place :D, originally produced for Pollythedog's comp which ends this month (and for which I must get shooting!)

Hi Biggles

Well I can't really say no to you as they were your targets in the first place ;) :D

As for the pellet thing, you can change if you like. You can either leave it blank or let me know when submitting your scores.

I've updated my sheet, but not the BBs one.

Hi Paddy

I'm up for some of this. Can I enter 3 categories?
Spring: Feinwerkbau 65
SSP: HW75
CO2: Walther CP88 Competition

All .177 and at the moment all 3 will be with RWS CO2 target pellets, but this may change.

Could you just clarify a couple of things please. This is June's competition, but will run only between 31st May and 7th June. After scores submitted on 7th, that's it; comp over for June.

On the targets there is a ring inside the 10 (10.1 ring?). I take it this will not be used in this comp?

Cheers

Hi.

I've put you in the 3 categories you asked for. I'll try & update the BBs sheet in abit.

& you're basically answered your own questions there. :)

One of my per usual typo errors that I've worded this as 'July's Competition' it should read 'June's competition' :o

I'm surprised no one has picked that up :p sorry.

To Clarify the comp is only run within 31st -7th, send me the scores by PM by 16:00 on the 7th. Then that is it until the first week in July. & as you say the 10.1 ring doesn't count.

?????????????????

This is a poll to let PadE know if there was enough interest in having 4 classes in the pistol comp that started last month. Spring power, Single Stroke Pneumatic, CO2 and Precharged Pneumatic.

We all shoot at 4 targets, 2 x 2 handed and 2 x 1 handed, 5 shots each target. You do this for each category you have selected, with the pistol you entered in each class.

Cheers

Hi all

I've been using pieces of fibreboard taped together with the pargets pinned to it to shoot & practice for this comp.
But it soon gets shot to bits:mad:

I found this american website offering really nice holder/traps for paper targets.
http://www.archerairguns.com/airgun-pellet-trap-s/6.htm
Will cost too much to get sent over here... but I've found its possible to cobble together something similar quite cheaply.:D

Basic taget holder is a hardboard clipboard with the centre jigsawed out
(the clipboards are very cheap @£1.99 each and come with the metal clip)

I've stuffed mine with rags and this catches the pellets a treat.

If you tuck the bottom of the paper under the bottom of the clipboard it holds the paper quite tightly.

It also helps on the scoring front as the pellet hole folds inwards - if you flap it back - you get a great POI mark that makes scoring 100% accurate.

Could be an opportunity for some enterprising soul with more time than I to make a batch for others perhaps?

Following on from Pade post, I have also shot a few practice targets:D:D well quite a few actually and my best to date is a total of 125 some 33 point improvement:D:D:D:D mind you I still throw in the odd sub 100 score with some real fliers:( not sure if its me or the pellets as the Umarex pellets do seem a bit variable in the breech:confused: Not long now and the target will be for the comp:D
ATB Keith

That's superb,125 , I'm going to have to get some practice in this weekend....... or start thinking up some excuses! :p

As for pellets, I've never tried any others but I'm using RWS Hobby and when I miss I know it's not down to the gun or the pellets, it's me every time.

If I rest my hands on a table and hold the gun in two hands I can get excellent groups so I'd definitely recommend them if you fancy a change. I think they're fairly cheap compared to some others as well, always a bonus.

I bet when the comp target goes up my scores will go down:) I will try the RWS Hobby's

[/creep mode on] Dearest Mr Pad. E, having arrived a little late to the party, and noticing your, no more peeps, statement on page one I was, to say the least, a little disheartened :( and accept that if you let me in, I can imagine it would be a lot of work for your already heavy workload, what with all the camo projects :) and everything.

So I'd understand if you can't say yes, come on in and join the fun, which is a shame really as I feel that Blackpool may be a little under-represented in the competition and I'm sure I'll represent the town well.

Should you be in a position to add another member to the exclusive, well respected, list of members I would very much appreciate it :) [/creep mode off]

Seriously, if anyone drops out then please put me on your standby list :)

After testing my Co2 Gamo for the first time for this competition yesterday. I can honestly say be afraid, very afraid ;) (pellets were going everywhere :o :D)

£7.59 from our sponsor, Jason, cheaper if you buy 10 tins which I may do when I'm getting low on pellets and I'm feeling flush....but I use Geco, Co2 Target, Bisley Practice and R 10 Match when practicing....;)

Eredel, I notice you have a 4" S&W. Is there a reason why you opted for a 4" vs. a 6"? I'm considering getting one and am interested about your choice. :)

Jim

Hi Jim,
The reason I have the 4" is that a local mail order company were selling off the last of their stock of pistols and rifles and due to the VCR act it was pick-up only...they only had the 4" Nickel 686 but with Red Dot scope and dovetail rail at an exceedingly cheap price so I jumped right in there and got one...don't regret it as they're a great pistol....;)
I've been advertising for a 6" barrel but have had no luck so will probably purchase a new one...they're £65.00!!!....
So that's why I have the 4".....:)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rules :

Range: Set at 6yds (That is the longest I can shoot in the back garden)

Shots: 10/15 practice shots, then 5 shots per target

Date: Anytime in the first week of every month. Starting June 28th.

Scoring: If the pellet breaks into two points i.e 8 & 9, you score the highest number

I was at the club practicing tonight, just CO2 though, which is improving nicely.

A bit off topic, but hopefully will improve my spring performance to a point where I can hit a barn door. I've taken the grip off my BSA 240 Magnum in an attempt to modify it, remove some sharp edges and finally stipple or chequer the grip, anyone any ideas how to go about stippling and what's best to use, or am I best off going at it with a dremmel. :)
