Why don't we have a powder exchange on the site ?
We could exchange small amounts of different powders to try new loads without the cost of buying a lb here and a kg there .
i have some Vectan SP7 ,reloader 19, vhit 140 and would like to try some Vhit N160, N550 or hodgdon H4350, H414
Anyone interested ?

It's a good idea and yes I have H4350 but there are issues with postage.

Might only work on a local basis but if people post what is on offer then others can work it out if it is worth traveling for, and PM people offering powder exchange.
Thanks for posting !

I honestly think it is worth doing, especially when you are working up a load. I guess the main issue would be after you have worked up a load and are happy with it then you tend to stick to the same load. I was going to post about a group buy on shotgun ammo but gain the logistics makes such an opportunity very hard to complete.

It 's a great idea locally , but the cost of sending powders legally is prohibitive.
Perhaps creating a list of board users willing to swap powders within reasonable travelling distance of each other would be useful. Some of us in my area already do this .

I looked at doing it John, total waste of time, the saving on a palette is minimal over what you can buy them for in the shops, plus the agro of distributing other peoples ammo out, and the inevitable problems of trying to get the money in. Unless your ordering big amounts i.e. several palettes a month don't even waste your time. However if your a shooting ground, or you run shoots it is worthwhile as there is a small saving to be had, just not big enough to involve others in.

any chance of doing the same thing with bullets? just the heads, of course!
For instance: i'm looking to try out a, say, 50-55 grain load in my .243 but, i won't do it if i have to fork out for 100 heads if I'm only going to use a dozen then decide it ain't for me. then I'm stuck with the rest:)
anyone interested?

Like so many things, this sounds like a great idea. And with people you know well and trust you may do this. But unless the other person has these items on their certificate, you will be committing an offense if you trade/sell expanding bullets (ie heads). You need to at least see their certificate, many dealers where I am enter the bullets on your certificate. Remember, you can not mail order expanding bullets. Say you sent someone 5 bullet heads and this person never got back in touch you'd have no come back. Worst possible situation, they report you to the police and you lose your FAC. It's not worth it.

I know. I asked about Clear Pigeon 12 b 10,000 rounds and the best price I got was £150 per 1000 and if I purchased 10,000 they would give free shipping. My local shop sells them at £140 (?) 1000 but will give a 5% discount on 10,000 as you say the issue is then dishing out the ammo. All in all it's not worth saving £7.
