I have been shooting for some time now, and as yet, have never been to a gun club/range. Could i have some suggestions for some good gun clubs in Lancashire, preferably near Blackpool?

Thanks in advance.

Jordan

I just tried to PM you back Ian, but your inbox is full.

At the moment i am just shooting on some farm land of a family friend, and as you say, being a member of a club seems a good crack. I take it your a member at Rivington then? Whats it like?

Regards

Seriously though Jordan, why not come to our open charity shoot on the 11th of July, which is being held at our outdoor range. Meet the members and have a chat.
Details from I.J. who posts on this forum, or have a look in the events section.

Membership WAS full but we had that many people waiting to join (and for some reason some members joined and never returned:( thereby taking up places) we decided to open up membership again.
EVERYONE on the Waiting List was sent details either on 22nd April or 10th May.
KARLOS was you on our waiting list?

Helo mate

At the time we were looking for a potential club to use instead of the failing Failsworth, but your membership was full when we asked.
We were invited to pop down and meet the guys but never got round to it, we then found the rimfire club at Guide Bridge and all joined there.
Please don't worry about it Ian I know how fluid a membership can be and my post was totally in jest

Ahh - so youve seen how some of our members can drink :D

(Never while shooting though)

Good luck with your chosen shooting sport.

And how many gun clubs can boast (boast?
 ) their own 'tranny'. GLADYS - 4ft 12ins, beard and face like a blind cobblers thumb! :D You certainly need your 'humour pencil' with HIM! :D :D :D

I don't know if its still there, but years ago I used to go to a range at the back of Birchwood Green, that old wild west place near Warton. Thats not too far from Blackpool. Might be worth checking out mate.

The one where the noisy compressor chugged away all the time?
Think that folded years ago. :(
B.A.R. will be able to give any details of clubs in their area.

There is some sort of gun club near Kirham - on the other side of the 'main' Blackpool to Preston road.
I suspect that it's mainly shotgun stuff though, has anyone ever visited it??

Very strange that abbo. I live about 5mins away from Kirkham, and I've never heard of any gun club round there. I will try and locate it over the weekend. It would be excellent for me if they shoot air rifles there :)

Yeah I.J. I remember that old compressor chugging away lol. I wasn't sure if the club was still around or not. Last time I was there, which was years ago, there was only me and one other bloke turned up. It kinda took the fun out of it. The numbers had been dwindling for a while.

I nipped into Kirkham cop shop today and asked about a gun club/rifle range in the area. The guy had never heard of one :(

Very politely, he pulls out the phone book, looks up BAR's phone number, dials it, then passes me the phone so I can ask the guys there  That was a bit shocking. I was half expecting to be interregated

Spoke to Roger on the blower, he says the nearest club to me is in Chorley. The Rivington Rifle Men. Your clubs not taking any new members is it I.J?

Cheers.

Very odd.
The one that I 'found' was from a club directory web site, the link to which was posted on this board some time ago.

I somehow never got round to phoning the place to see what they did there.

Anyone know what that website was which gives details of local clubs? I've tried searching for it, both on this site and generally, but not found anything.

I've discovered a gun club in Blackpool, but strangely they do not allow the use of telescopic sights!

Thats not too good when your wanting to zero your scope before a hunting session :(

Sorry I.J, I aint made it to your club yet. I will get there oneday lol :)

No problem. :) Weve been 'here' nearly 20 years and dont intend going anywhere. ;) Just check the days events before travelling. We have quite a busy events calendar over the next few months what with Broughton Hall C.F. (Sun. 27th June) and a little event you may have heard of  on Sun. 11th July. Indoor range also closed on Sun. 4th July.
