As I sold my 12ftlb rapid a few months ago and then found a need for an air rifle, I picked up one of these new at my local RFD as I needed a sub 12ftlb air rifle for rabbit control in areas where the rimfire or shotgun couldnt be used. It cost a penny under ninety pounds so I thought it was a bit of a bargain considering it has a years warranty.
The gun its self is quite large in size, but of average weight, with a standard breakbarrel action (.22). It also has some sort of damping system which I've not actually worked out yet, but it shoots ok so presume it works .:D The woods reasonable with machine cut checkering and a quality feel to it, not Weiraech (sp) but certainly better than the chinese imports I've had and seen.
There are adjustable open sights which could be fun to use, but as I bought it for pest control I've not bothered trying it without the scope.
The blueing appears to be quite light, but for under ninety pounds what can I expect;) I only want a work horse gun anyway.
The trigger is very heavy out of the box, a simple strip, clean of gunk and reassembly made it much lighter although still not a quality trigger. I'm sure this can be improved on with some filing and polishing of the sears but for my needs its quite useable.
The safety is automatic and consists of a button you push forward at the back of the action, which I find quite ergonomic.
I mounted a chinese 6x24-56 scope on it and took it down the 25 yard range at my club. Using superdomes it groups within a 10p piece for 10 shots at 25 yards shooting benchrested.
I was very surprised at the accuracy of the rifle and for this sort of money I'm very happy with it. For anyone looking for a 1st air rifle for their son its certainly not a bad option and will leave money for a scope, mounts and pellets out of £150.
Its certainly earned a place in my cabinet for those jobs where only an air rifle can be used safely due to buildings etc. Well done Hatsan!
