I didn't even know they made these until a friend of a friend on here contacted me with one he wanted to change for a standard LH sporter. His problem was the size of his hands made 'thumb through' impossible.
Now I had been of the view for ages that Theoben should offer a really nice ambi stock along the lines of that fitted to the Daystate Air Ranger/Air Wolf. Well at last they have!! Made by Customstocks of Sheffield it is a rather angular item that on first viewing isn't quite as nice as the Daystate Italian job but is nevertheless a step in the right direction.
I have one major niggle in that on fitting I was annoyed to note that the wooden trigger guard was unable to accommodate the trigger blade. I was disappointed to see that the trigger blade was so long that it had actually made a small mark on the wood on the inside of the trigger guard and needed to be filed down to move when fitted. The safety catch is virtually inoperable so the trigger area needs work. I sorted this using a B & D PowerFile. However, given that this stock was MADE for the R2 I regard this poor attention to detail as 'disappointing'.
In use the stock is OK. It works well for both LH and RH shooters. Double thumb-up and thumb through positions are comfortable for all shooters except those with exceptionally large fingers.
My only criticism of this stock-apart from the annoying mis-fit of the trigger-is that it appears very hard-edged. The shape of the stock is very angular and I feel that a bit of 'curving' on the edges would improve this no end. I will report back after I have had the stock in use for a while.

I had the same problem,my friend and i had a day out from kent to see ben taylor to have some regs moded, while we were waiting for the work to be completed we drove over to theoben to pick up some bits and bobs.
I was taken by the new anbi thumbhole stock and asked if it would fit my theoben rapidmk2 and they said yes, when i got home and tried to fit the stock i damaged the woodwork as the safety catch and triger dug into the woodwork:eek:.
When i called them they begrudgingly:mad: said that if i drove all the way back i could have a refund as they have rejiged the trigger and the new trigger is shorter and the new safety is swept back so you are not alone.
I ended up buying a complete new trigger cartridge as it was cheaper than having another day off work to sort things out:(

Nick, i've been using one of these for the last 3 months and one of the first things I did was increase the thumbhole size and rounded off the sharp edges! See the 'windy site' for more details (under HFT Rapid;))

Thumbhole Ambi Stock as you say Nick there are some sharpe edges don't have any problems with the thumbhole mind you I got small hands and do like the thumb up option perhaps they have changed it because no problem with the trigger safety on mine but to be honest its a tight fit, I think its put life back into the Rapid and made it look more attractive rifle handling for me cant fault it, they do the same type of stock now for the MFR looks very smart I want one my opinion these 2 stocks are great improvements to the rapid family.
