I thought I'd review this revolver for the benefit of anyone interested in buying one.
In this review I shall raise the good points it has over the S&W 586/686.
Appearance.
At first looks it appears well made and reasonably solid, the matt grey finish looks quite good...deserves a good 4 out of 5.
How it feels.
This revolver at first felt too light even slightly cheap but load the dummy shells and co2 capsule up and it feels better weighted and balanced.
The nice large broad hammer spur feels very comfortable and easy to use as does the trigger although it is not as nice as the S&W 586.
Another nice point is that the grip doesn't feel too bulky unlike the Smith so it should be more suitable for the smaller hand.
4/5
Features
Here is where the Dan Wesson has some real plus points over the Smith.
Firstly the fixed foresight blade has a nice white dot in it making target acquisition easier, the rearsight looks more chunkier than the Smith as its some sort of metal/alloy.
The Dan Wesson also comes with a weaver type rail which fastens onto a miniature rail by 2 tiny grubscrews for scope/red dot...nice feature to have.
The swing out 6 shot cylinder is nice to have especially if you owned an air cartridge revolver before the ban was introduced, loading is quite easy and fast manually or with the supplied speedloader but another 1 or 2 speedloaders plus dummy shells would be perfect for metal plate shooting if you don't mind 6 shots.
Next feature is the spring loaded barrel (please please please put this on a Smith),what this gem of a design feature does is to create a better seal on the front of the cylinder by pressing against the front of the rounds chamber and this in turn presses the rear of the dummy round against another seal at the rear giving the co2 blast more pressure to blast the 6mm ball up the barrel and giving it the higher energy and velocity.....absolutely brilliant idea!
5/5
Performance
The performance from this revolver is superb!
A 12gr co2 capsule gives roughly 100 shots on a warm day at about 450fps with .2gr BB'S which is far higher than a standard airsoft pistol, this imho makes the Dan Wesson a good prospect for metal plate shooting as the BB's will shatter at closer ranges...just make sure you don't miss as you only get 1 chance to miss.
The accuracy of this revolver is quite staggering considering thats its a 6mm 6 inch smoothbore,I would say that shooting a bullseye out at 6 yards is very possible in single action firing and the double action is very good but not quite as good which is to be expected.
It is just nice to be able to do what TAC gun owners used to do before the air cartridge ban deprived so many out of hours of fun.
I would give the performance 5/5..an excellent performer with decent BB's.
Conclusion
Simply put this is a bargain priced airgun(£130) that will bring many a smile to peoples faces, grab one while you can!
Also like to thank UK Neil for his assistance for the testing of this gun
