The WALTHER Lever – Action (long)

I bought my ‘Long’ version almost a year ago, mostly because I like the ‘Winchester’ styling/action, & I wanted a FUN gun for in the garden. It is just that “FUN” in capitals!

Build Quality; Excellent, as you would expect from one of Germany’s top gun makers. They’ve been around a while, & for my money, always turn out a quality product.
Calibre; .177 only
Weight; >7.5 lbs! Just shows you – it’s no toy.
Sights; Open, (iron sights), except they’re plastic, maybe the only negative for the gun, but hey, they work just fine. Elevation on the rear by means of a stepped ramp, windage up front by a L/R sliding blade. Telescopic or Red dot could be fitted with the right adaptor rail, but who would want to? That’s not what it’s about, not to me anyway.
Magazine; The standard 8 shot revolving Walther mag, so you can use it from/in your other guns? The loading chamber is special! Press the lookalike ‘bullet loading port’ on the right, & hey presto a chamber opens for the rotary mag.

Power; The Walther ‘High Power System’ means 2 not 1, 2 of the universal CO2 Bulbs fit into a carrier that slides out of the butt! This gives enough for at least 60 shots, I usually get nearer 100. I have used both Walther & Crosman gas cartridges without problems, but I feel the Walther have the edge in this gun.

Action; So sweet, even a child could do it, (under supervision of course), & you can even hold your aim whilst loading another shot!

Pellets; Everything I tried is happy in the magazine, & flying out the barrel, so as far as I’m concerned, especially considering the quantity I seem to use with this gun, the cheaper the better! Umarex Perfecta ~ are perfect for it, so too are Gecos, both I think you’ll find available for around £2 per 500/tin, if you search a bit & buy 10 tins!

Performance; CO2 weapons are well known for their ‘power curve’, more like a downhill slope if you ask me. With new CO2 bulbs at decent temperatures I measured a maximum muzzle velocity of 658 fps with Geco 7.13 grain pellets. This drops a few fps with each shot, depending somewhat on how long between firing. On average I would expect to get a good 60 shots at around the 6 ft lb mark, so plenty of power for back garden stuff. On a warm day, I have managed to empty 12 magazines full – in just about as many minutes! That’s 96 pellets, & 2 x CO2’s, even at best possible mail order prices, we’re talking about over a £1’s worth, but the fun! That’s what this gun excels at – F U N.

Accurate, I own only the carbine version and with open sights it's brilliant.

actually more fun than the rifle they are a copy of, no faffing about filling a tube magazine ...
