View Full Version : Dovetail mounted rear sight
Does any one know of any rear sights that fit straight on to a dovetail?
It's to go on a Falcon pistol with a front sight made by U.K.Neil.
Kingplinker has come up with one method but would like to know if there are any ready to use solutions out there.
Thanks James.

The HW77 apparently has a rear sight that fits onto the scope rail but I imagine too large for a pistol. Diopter but again probably too large. I have a pistol scope which has an 11mm mount?

I've just tried to put a HW77 rear sight onto the dovetails of my Falcon FN12 rifle and I wouldn't say it would fit without being tapped on with a hammer, so that one might be out the window unless you don't mind maybe a little bit of marking.

Tried that Pete , worried that I would not get it back off  I even filed it without much success ?
I used B2 dove tail and HW 77 sights .

Something along the lines of HW77 is what I'm after.
I think the williams is a peep sight so no use on a pistol.
Same goes for a Diopter.
Any other ideas.

I would get hold of one clamp from a set of two piece scope clamps which fit the groove width on your pistol. Then cut off the extaraneous metal and bolt a suitable notch rearsight from another pistol onto the base you will have made.

This is what I have be thinking about I have a old Singlepoint sight which would give a nice low base.
Now to find rear sight to go on it I am looking at a Webley Hurricane sight just have to drill and tap the dovetail base.

The problem with the HW 77 dovetail is that it's 30 mm from the top of the barrel to the top of the sight  so the foresight on mine will be rather high ........... not a problem if it's hooded I suppose ?

On my custom 1377C, I'm using the Crosman/Williams notched Rear Sight which in the U.S. runs about $50, luckily got mine for $25 Second Hand, like new...
Mendoza also offers a blade or peep for $21...

Tony
