Got a belated Chrissie Pressie yesterday, a Diana P5 .177 Magnum pistol (lovely bit of kit). Am leaving it on its fibre optic open sights (the reason why I wanted one), and following some sound advice from SWAT Strachan, have zeroed it at ten yards.
It zeroed well, and within seven shots, and I then experienced consistent accuracy shot on shot, with only pilot error causing the odd problem. Until now I have not been a fan of pistols, but this one -- like all Diana pistols allegedly -- delivers.
Crono'd @ 5.7 ft lb with air arms 4.52 fields, this is a keeper (and those who know me know I only say that when a bit of kit is just right). Am really impressed with this pistol, and highly recommend it/them (especially in .177)... Enough said :D

I've been eyeing up the P5 on the Ramsbottom website for a while. Glad to know that you like it.
Please post your further thoughts on it when you had it for a while .Ta.
Andrew.

Me too. Seems an ideal Hunter Pistol comp tool.

Interesting to hear how you progress with the pistol.
I am very pleased with my 1959-1962 Model 5 all wood stock.
Shoots very well and smoothly.

Put a further 200 rounds through the P5 Magnum yesterday, and am still totally delighted with it. Continues to be consistent, recoil very manageable, and with AA 4.52 Fields was giving me 2" groupings at ten yards, and 1" groupings at five yards... And if I hadn't been suffering the D-Ts from too many single malts the night before, these groupings could've been even tighter  ... will give another up date after an outing in the field. HAPPY NEW YEAR FELLOW BBS NUTS: Gareth :p.

Been playing with the Diana P5 again today (among my other toys -- see signature), and need to clarify the power out-put claimed in my opening post. Seems I converted ft per sec into ft per lb incorrectly and the 5.7 ft lb quoted should've been 4.7 ft lb. Am very sorry about that, guess maths just ain't my strong point... :o.
4.7 ft lb is still a good bunch of power for a pistol however (especially as power can creep up once an air weapon is run-in), and when opportunity rears its head am sure this pistol will do well at knocking over rats, woodies, and baked bean tins :). Joking to one side, fired a further hundred or so shots with it today, in the rain, and it's accuracy remains just as true as before, with pilot error once more causing the only real problem (me).
The fibre optic open sights light up perfectly on dismal days like today -- thus enabling clear target sighting etc -- and still with Air Arms 4.52 Fields, gave most acceptable groupings indeed... Am going to sign off now, but to finish would just like to ad that I'm not easily impressed and tend to buy, try and move on more air guns than I keep. So when I say this P5 may be with me for a while, in my world, that is praise indeed :p LOL ...

Thank you for the updates. I'll keep the 5P on my "you deserve a little treat, now what's it to be ? " list. I like springy things.
Andrew.... Out there watching.
