I needed a scope as a stopgap for a recently aquired S200 and chose one of these.
1. Construction
OK here. Not oozing with quality but not a problem on a £55 scope
2. Controls
Mag ring turns smoothly and PA locking ring is just nicely hand tight. (it comes parrallaxed to rimmy ranges as is usual). Turrets click and turn with no problems.
3. Optical Quality
Hawke have IMO made some simply awful scopes. This isn't one of them. Sure it's no Bushnell but it isn't competing in their price range either. Optics are in the perfectly useable class given the scopes cost.
4. Reticle
This is the big selling point and the big question is does it do what it says on the tin? The answer is yes, but. The S200 is in .177 and the scope is on medium mounts. A 30 yd zero should give aimpoints at 40, 50 and 60 @ 6mag. I found that if I set it to 7 mag it corresponded to the stated aimpoints to within a pellets width, on 6 mag it was a shade out. I'd rather shoot at 7x than 6x anyway so this revelation (assuming the scale is correct) is welcome.

I was intending this to be a stopgap scope until I could import something of higher quality from the USA but the reticle works so well and the optics are sufficiently sound for me to put that plan on hold at least for a while.

Recommended in this price range.

I have one of the hawke 3-9 x 40 MAP on order with my fn12rb, read reviews about it and as you state is a good scope for its price. I have a 4 x 40 hawke scope also. This is problem free so i opted for the 3-9 x 40 on reputation. I`ll report back on my findings.

Just an update on my earlier findings. I must have been having a bad eye day when I initially set the MAP up as it seemed to be 7x where the points fell correctly but after using it for a while now I now find that it's true as stated at 6x. Perhaps I got some parrallax error earlier or was just having an off day ;)

Been using the scope on my s410 classic with .....u guessed it.....aa fileds and its very accurate. Even the 5 meter holdover points are accurate all the way up to 45 meters. And for £50 odd squids im a happy bunny dropper.

Would u recommend this scope with a Springer, Webly Xocet to be exact? Not sure if it will cope with the recoil and whether it will be worth getting it for my rifle.
Thanks for any reply’s, much appreciated.

James :)
