Well it's been a few days since i got it but i've been to busy/tired to write this so here we are. Having arranged to pick up a new gun on Saturday from Essex i figured i was in for a couple of hours driving so we set off at 10.15 from Portsmouth and arrived at the Airgun Centre at 14.15 blooming M25 was shut due to a rather serious accident.
Anyway on arrival Pete said to me i thought you weren't coming. Don't even go there i said explaining what had happened. We've got a few choices for you says Pete and i look on wide eyed.
Here's the Daystate Harrier X he says and places it on the counter top and opens the box. Whilst i'm looking at it he says, and here's the Pro-Sport with a walnut stock but he wasn't happy with the stock and asked them to send a better one which they did.
So now i've got to decide whether i want a Harrier X or the Pro-Sport i ordered in the beginning. So i spend some time looking them both over and after a discussion about costs and change of scopes i decide on the Harrier X.
Pete took it away and put the mounts and scope on it and returned to the front of the shop. I held the gun in the aim and must say it felt really comfortable. So the gun is placed in a gunslip and jokingly i said to Pete, are you going to throw in some pellets or am i just firing air at these targets? Of course he said and put two tins in the pocket.
At this point i paid up the difference between my original order and my final choice and made some comment about being in no hurry to leave as it had taken me four hours to get there. Pete said stay as long as you like and got me a huge cup of coffee.
We chatted for an absolute age and i passed a remark about the quickfill and would i have to remove my AA one from the hose to fit the Daystate one. Hang on a sec he says and gives me an adaptor already made up to go straight into my AA one, nice touch i thought.
After much more chat i asked him if i could get the single shot tray direct from Daystate and he said i can get you one. With that he went back behind the counter and pulled one from a box and gave it to me. I asked how much he wanted and he said it's ok, you can have it on me. Result.
I stayed for almost three hours in all talking about airguns and watching Pete at work with his customers. A really nice bloke with all the time in the world for you. I stood and watched for forty five minutes whilst some guy quizzed him about all things Rapid and to his credit he answered every question even if it wasn't in his favour.
I was very impressed with the service and when the time comes i will be going back. Now if i can just find time to zero it i'll be a very happy chappy.
