i have just bought my self the BSA ultra multi shot 177 and i must say the gun is very nice its small light weight very accurate and the stock is well designed my only grumble is that the sas silencer that comes with the gun is not very silent other than that the gun is very well made and worth every penny 10/10 :D :D

best thing to do is have John Bowkett blue print it...if you think its good now m8 then once he has done his tricks you will enjoy it so much more...he wil also sort the power for you and smoothen anything out....i havent got his number to hand though im afraid :o

had a Blueprint jod done by Mr Bowket, at the same time put on a larger air cylinder and also threaded the end for a better HW silencer. Great bit of kit, shame to sell it but need funds for my FAC and shotgun addiction.

I have one of these and they are a cracking little rifle. I have a Logun silencer to reduce the noise and it works a treat. I tried a Weihrauch silencer and that was even quieter.

you made a good choice there mate, stick a weirauch silencer if your that bothered about the sound and the sound will be almost completly snuffed out if you already havent, try out daystate ft or air arms diablo as i found these to work best on this model.

Hi,

You've got yourself a great rifle.

I have a John Bowkett-tuned .177 MS and it's brilliant!

I also have an extended air reservoir, giving 50 good shots, and a new filling adapter, all of which JB did as well as the blueprint. It carries an HW silencer, which is superb, but quite long.

The max working pressure is now down to just 200 bar after the tune-up.

Mine works best with heavier pellets like Barracuda Match.

What's next? New stock maybe? Have to say that would purely be cosmetic as the Beesa stock's perfectly adequate.

Cheers,

Mike

Could someone give me an idea how much John Bowket would charge to " Blue Print" an Ultra?

Incidently,I've owned two AA PCPs and feel that they were certainly no more accurate than the Ultra and I didn't like the power curve or the bolt. So, for the money, the Ultra takes some beating.

You will be best to give Mr Bowkett a call as it depends on what you are after, blueprint, larger air cylinder etc.. 0121-745-4287

It is worth getting the blueprint done either way.

Just had my multi blueprinted by John Bowkett, to windy at the moment to zero the scope but i could not resist putting a couple of magazines through it.:)
The rifle feels totally different, seems easier to cock the probe is smoother and the shot count has gone up by 30%.
For the price i was charged to do the service i will not hesitate in recommending that any ultra owner should seriously consider contacting John Bowkett.

Just upgraded my Ultra to the Multishot. Cracking gun but what a POS the magazine is:eek:

First two shots are fine but when pulling the bolt out for the next shot the mag consistently misses 4-6 pellets:mad::mad:

Whats best contact the shop (its an hours drive) or go straight to BSA for a replacement?

Thanks

Figured I'd add my review in here to keep it all together :D

I managed to get my .22 Ultra Multi secondhand from this board, and coming from a HW77 all I have to say is WOW. Zero recoil :D Its light, pointable, got a decent shot count, surprisingly accurate for such a short barrel and small enough to fit in my rucksack (w/o silencer). The fit and finish of the Ultra looks good to me, the stock is nicely shaped and has a gorgeous dark finish and the bluing looks like it will last.
When I first tried it out the probe felt tight and the mag jammed a couple of times so needless to say I wasnt that impressed with it. THEN I swapped pellets from crossman accupel to H&N field target trophy. Not had a jam since in over 1500 shots and the probe feels nice and light. Go figure, they look almost the same to me!

Mine didnt come with the standard silencer so Ill keep shut about that, it did however come with a weihrauch silencer. I am very impressed with it, the only downside is that it adds another 6.5 inch to the barrel length which is a shame because the ultra looks the mutts without it! what I wouldnt give for a shrouded barrel ....
For my needs this little rifle is spot on, most likely a keeper :D

I think the MMC cocking system is a bit marmite though, either love it or hate it. I personally think its a great idea and I really cant fault it, my mate hates it and would much sooner stick with bolt action. Definately a try before you buy thing really, but I think if you give it a chance to get used to it youll see it makes sense.

Accuracy wise I cant fault it. I can get decent 16mm size 20 shot groups at 35 yards prone so for me thats perfect. My best group so far was a 10 shot 8mm grouping using my bipod rested on a haystack so if I do miss I know its me thats buggered the shot and not the gun.

I usually always fill to 170 BAR which will give me FIFTY decent shots from 10.5 ftlb. Perfect for ratties and pigeons which are my usual quarry. If I was after rabbits though I would fill to 150 BAR and get around 30 shots at full power (11-11.5).

Below are my test results from a 170 BAR charge 50 shot string using .22 14.7 H&N FTT pellets straight out the tin. tested on my combro mk4. (If anyone can make a graph of some sort it would be appreciated :D)

Hello All,

I recently bought a BSA Ultra Multi shot in .22. My previous airgun a Titan Mohawk also in .22 was good but the Ultra gives me the advantage of having 10 shots without the fiddling about.

The Ultra is lightweight and handles superbly in confined spaces such as sheds, cars etc. I found it easy to cock (yeah I even like the MMC system :o) and very accurate. The 10 shot magazine makes life a lot easier, no more fiddling about in the dark trying to find the breech with freezing cold fingers :) I wasn't overly impressed with the magazine system at 1st as it slipped when being loaded. I was told to contact BSA and explain the problem to them, I sent them an e.mail and they kindly offered to fix the problem free of charge (very impressive after sales service) the magazine is with them now. The Ultra had a non stock silencer fitted when I bought it so I cannot compare it with the original but the gun is very quiet with it in place.

I discovered after a couple of nights use that the power level seemed to increase as the pressure dropped to around 190 bar, the recommended filling pressure being 200 bar. It seems that the sweet spot is around 190 bar so for the amount of shots I'm likely to take when out in the field I'm going to fill to 190 bar instead of 200. This power curve seems to be in keeping with Skullmonk3ys chart above although at a higher pressure. (thanks for the chrono readings Skullmonk3y I don't have one myself)

Overall I've found the Ultra to be the ideal all rounder, nice looking piece of kit, solid and well built, decent power level, accurate, easy to use and can be carried all day if required.

Regards

Just adding another chart, this time tested with a 150BAR charge over 30 shots. Again using uncleaned unweighted H&n ftt straight from the tin (albeit a different tin ).

Shot/FPS/FTLB

11 592 11.47
12 586 11.24
13 588 11.28
14 587 11.25
15 591 11.41
16 588 11.3
17 587 11.27
18 589 11.33
19 591 11.41
20 590 11.36
21 585 11.18
22 587 11.27
23 586 11.24
24 584 11.13
25 579 10.96
26 583 11.11
27 583 11.10
28 581 11.04
29 582 11.05
30 582 11.08

Overall Im very happy with these results, seeing as theres a difference of only 12fps! This could probably be improved on by testing yet even more brands of pellets, weighing and cleaning em........... but Im not that anal :p

For the sake of a more consistent 1ftlb I dont think Ill be filling to 150 bar that often, Id much sooner have an extra 20 shots there waiting for me from a 170 fill and the difference it makes on zero is next to nothing :D
I doubt whatever I hit in the head next time out will be able to tell the difference.

going to buy myself a BSA ultra .22 multi tomorrow and ime interested to have it tuned by mr bowkett, anyone know where he is based and how much it is.
also as i am fairly new to all this what does having a blueprint done on the gun mean ?
ime told by the shop that they are only putting out about 10.2 f/pounds which put me off a bit, ime told that i should not worry about it but should I or not ? could there be something wrong with it or is it a common thing with these guns.

any help or advice greatly appreciated.

thanks
