Magtech Model 70, 22 LR

just seen these rifles, synthetic stock, and under £100 quid new.

Are they any good, issues?

Yes pretty good. My club had one for a couple of years but the firing pin broke a month back so they replaced it with two new ones. Clubs open most days of the week so a heck of a lot of ammo went through it, rarely cleaned it gave good service.
Shooting compares to my CZ511 and the mag is easier to get on with for novice shooters.
Very light so good for younger shooters. Dovetail for a scope.
Not quite as accurate as clubs Rugers but passable.

I've got one. Paid £50 for it and its as new. I had a 597 before which was more accurate but the mags were a pain when fully loaded.

They are tricky to strip and clean, like one of those puzzles you get in a christmas cracker.

I would definately recommend them, mines in my sig (3rd one down - synthetic stock) and has been chopped & screw cut. Great lamping rifle.

If you find one for £100 new buy it, not many shops are doing them for that price.

I managed to kink one of the springs - still works OK. The Remy 597 was much easier to work on.

IIRC the Magtech (http://www.cbc.com.br/armas/cbc7022/index.php?acao3_cod0=1421c5df1a300fe8ee2e002efc77d 3a9) is essentially a copy of the Marlin detachable-magazine semis such as the old Model 70 and 7000 and the current Model 795 (http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/SelfLoading/795.aspx).

The 7000 I had was pretty good: so if the Magtech is an accurate copy, mechanically speaking, it shouldn't be bad either.

Personally, I never found stripping / reassembling my 7000 a problem, though: so maybe they're not the same inside after all. :D
