I'm new to this air gunning lark but I was bored to hell tonight, I made a cheap and cheerful review and stuck it on my site. I know everyone "knows" that S400's are great but there are no proper S400 reviews on the BBS, just bits and bobs all over. Anyway I wanted to put what I (completely new to air guns) thought on it.
IT'S HERE (http://www.markevered.com/s400review.htm)
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

PS:If you want I can paste it in here, it's just you can see piccies on there.

Good review mate, nice picks!
Those RWS Hobby's are too light though, and will have too much resistance on longer ranges (flatheads). Stick with AA/JSB/Daystate .51 and you'll do great. AA rifles are set-up with these pellets and they usually love them!

I also found that the hobby's perform perfectly in the AA's. They are a bit light for longer ranges but are pretty good up to about 30yds. Personaly I prefer them for shorter ranges over anything else.
Also resistance is not an issue but drag is and there is not much you can do about the shape of the rear end of the pellet.:o
Nice review.

Thanks guys,
I'll probably buy the Pellpax thing to get a good range of pellets to have a go with. When I eventually find enough time to visit/join a club I can have a go at some longer ranges and test them properly. :D
Limited to 30m garden at the moment :(

Had a look at the review, excellent stuff mate and very useful for any first time buyer!
Regarding the pellets, a lot of the brands contained within the pellpax packet will be no good for you. It would be better for you to buy three tins of Air Arms Field. One in 4.51,4.52,and 4.53 (if its a .177 of course!) These type of pellets are very popular and my S410 loves 4.52s. Hope this helps:)

Nice review Andy, gotta say I love the look of those shiny bits :p :p They really does contrast nicely with the black of the rifle. HOW SHINY IS THAT WALNUT STOCK!?!?!?
Just noticed the archives :D . Masses of threads and posts I'd never even seen. Just curious, but how long does it take for a thread to disappear into the deep dark realms of the archives.

H Mark, I enjoyed very much your debut Review. As an owner of a .22 AA S410 fac I want to confirm I agree entirely with your comments in respect of accuracy. There are other makes of rifle I'm sure could match it, but difficult to imagine anything to beat it. These rifles look good too and are made to a very high standard.
I had mine regged by Ben Taylor, with the option gold plate trigger, an Elmer Fudd brass bolt, with the gold inlay lines added by Air Arms to the Walnut Sporter stock, the end result I think you will agree, is spectacular.
I am using Acc Pell and AA Fields and want to try JSB's.
Just wish this wind would die down so that I can do do something with it other than taking its picture.
Thanks again for your Review, have fun with your Classic AA 400, they are superb rifles.

Bob
I've used Bis mags and they are good, especially in breezy conditions. At 45 yds with my scope zeroed to AA fields, if I change to Bis mags, going down two dots (10yds) puts me bang on the bull again.
