I spoke to GB Sights this morning. Great product it seems. The JCB video "blurred" look due to the movement of the NV sight was because of something called frame accumulation being on. This is a high end feature which allows the display to be updated 32 times for detail. It can be switched on or off on the Pro model. The standard model has the standard 16 times update rate -- which makes panning much smoother. I understand new videos for both the pro and standard model will be up early next week sometime.

Hi Dave,

Interesting video. My thoughts are:

The frame rate seems incredibly low, even the small amount of movement of the scope in the video made the image unusable. I wonder how this will work in the field firing from an unsupported or semi supported position where the rifle is constantly moving. As for scanning a large area I don't see how this will be possible at all without having to move/stop/move/stop for the image to stabilise.

Would be a good idea to find out from Gavin what the native frame rate of the CCD/display is. If it's a standard 75Hz CCD then with 16x overlaying you get 4.7 frames/sec and with 32x overlaying you get 2.3 frames/sec!

Also another concern is that with any ccd/display system there is a delay between the input and the output, again making shots from an unsupported position less accurate as you will see the reticle moving on the target at a slight delay meaning the shots will be pulled.

Cheers

Clive

Frame intergration will increase sensitivity at the expense of frame rates and it is not a big secret; what make my device different is the fact that it is controlled by an on board processor which allows the shooter to select frame rates that he/she is comfortable with and shooting scene, light level, steadiness of shooting position.
The sensitivity of the device allows shooting airgun ranges comfortably without FI mode ON.120+yrds

I’ll film a set of movies at different ranges and different attachment setting and it is my intension to publish them on web site before any unit is sold to the public. Also all data on frame rates at different FI setting will be clearly specify when product is ready.they are ready for sale as from next week
the only thing stopping me from getting more video footage is the weather

Hi DOGFOX

is it safe to say then that the AS model is better suited to airgun users and the AS-PRO for firearms?

Also a low tech question! the battery pack,is it a rechargable unit or does it house batteries?

thanks
simon.

non of the AS (attachment short relief) is suitable for rifles with recoil because of short eye relief. Both suitable for recoiless rimfire/precharged, ASpro have few extra function such as FI and Negative - Positive image). AL (long eye relief) models expected to the end of February"Battery pack is rechargable
