In an attempt to keep away the lack of hunting blues in the winter months i decided to research and invest in a back yard plinking pistol. After a bit of research i decided on the Beeman 2004 pneumatic pistol.

At first appearance it does look and feel like an actual live pistol. Its all black apart from the trigger, safety and hammer release. It has a tough plastic outer that is fairly scratch and scuff proof. Its metal inners give it its weight and balance.
To cock the pistol, you have to pull back what appears to be the hammer, this releases the whole top arm of the pneumatic action. The top part is then opened 180 degrees, to insert the pellet before closing. Closing isn't the easiest of tasks with this pistol. But i have been assured that after time the action does become easier(as to whether one builds muscles where required to cock it or wether the action does actually free up with use is still unknown). Safety comes on automaticly with the cocking action of the pistol, which is a nice touch.

It comes with a scope/laser rail which is useful for people who prefer not to use the standard iron sights. The only issue here is that the attached sights would need to be fitted close to the front of the pistol so not to interfere with the cocking action.

Straight out of the box i was producing 50p sized groups at 10yds, which is great as that'll be my max range(determined by my garden) anyway.

Power wise shes doing around the 3ft/lb mark which is fine for 10 meter plinking.

So overall for under £70 you get a good looking, fairly robust and accurate plinking pistol. I have no complaints with her.

Thanks for reading.

My first one popped a seal when it was a few months old, but the replacement which I have had for about 18 months has been fine.

So do you think it's just as good as the HW 40?
