As Title

What's yours?

As you probably know mine is the Air-Arms / Sussex Armoury Jackal range.

What one's do collect or would like to collect?

Regards
Paddy.:)

I suppose anything thats been out of production a while could be deemed collectable, not only old guns really as one that is pretty modern is the Pro elite which I would say is definately entering collectable description, as are your you Sussex Armoury military style rifles, early AA to such as Carmargue and the like

BSFs are another fine example, and Roger on here has an impressive collection along with an impressive knowledge about them should someone need some

Then theres I.Js era such as Pattern Ds, and BTDT has a fine collection of ball chamber pump ups from the 1700s which he regularly takes out Rabbititng;) :D

I started collecting by accident, My interest was hunting and I wanted the best / most accurate and powerful rifle.

So I went from Airsporter through BSF, FWB, HW, Original to AA.

Another modern classic has to be the AA TX 200 SR (I have a mk1 and a mk2)

Took me a long time to go PCP too, but have never regretted it but still keep springers along with Rapids, Ripleys, AA410, PT, Daystates etc.

My collection sort of grew organically, I never sat down and thought 'I'll concentrate on one marque.

Personally I dont think you can put an age on a 'collectable'. Ive had brand new guns (Merlyn LE left handed blue stock) that are instantly collectable. Perhaps a collectable is something that someone else wants, new or old, but cant be bought over the counter.

Neither did I until I found this site. I had the one Air-Arms (Jackal)Firepower (amonst other airguns). Within a year I brought 5 Jackals & a Jackal stock. :D

I collect what I would deem 'classic' FT rifles, setting myself rough datelines from about 1985 to 1998, excluding the alloy stocked 10m conversions.

Using this old kit is a bit of an eye opener, most of it is just as good as the current gear but gets looked down on because it isn't the 'in thing'.

I got back into rabbit shooting with my old Mercury after a lay off which must run to twenty five years. It still does the business and it's so light to carry it's refreshing. Trouble is, the new pcps are just too good not to use in the field. Missing is rare these days I'm glad to say.

Couldn't call it a collectable really, but it's as close as I can get and my son loves it :)

Nice to see the new section.
As to what is deemed collectable, just about anything! God knows why someone would want a collection of AA S4*0s but if that's what floats your boat then so be it!
I still don't consider myself a collector although I am amassing a few interesting (to me anyway!) bits and bobs. Generally I go for British stuff in .177 only (I'd take .25s if I ever came across them in good nick), which often makes things more difficult for me. Age is no particular descriminator for me be it a year old or fifty I'm not fussed, I'm more keen on the condition and them being relatively unusual due to the calibre and/or condition. I'm not keen on non-standard stuff or non-original manufacturer accessories. The newest rifle I have got just for the sake of it, i.e. serves no real function as a hunter or competition rifle, is a Birmingham Webley Xocet and the oldest a Webley MKIII. There's a couple of BSAs,Superstar and RB2 Airsporter an Air Arms Pro-Elite and a Theoben Sirocco Grand Prix in between. I'm no real fan of pistols but I do have a boxed BSA 240 Magnum lurking too. I'm also a sucker for putting period optics on them rather than the very latest. I particularly like some of the older Nikko scopes and the Japanese Tascos can be stunning.
I've just picked up a Nikko 3-9x40 MRE mainly for the novelty value. It's supposed to have pretty good optics and choosing the different reticles will be interesting although I doubt if it will be genuinely useful. God knows what I'm going to put it on!

What ever is of interest to the individual is deemed as collectable. As you can see from my sig i like Webleys the reason for this is i could not afford them in there day so plenty of lost time to catch up on. They still perform well especialy the Vulcan which is now putting out 11.8ftlbs only problem is you need three fingers to pull the trigger !! . The Osprey is at present in kit form having a full makeover, internaly and externaly. All my guns are used on a regular basis and it gives me great satisfaction to achieve the same results in the field with a thirty year old rifle as i do with a top of the line pcp. :)

I'm still new to all this, but I have found myself fond of a few Brummie Webleys. I absolutely love my Longbow. Quality!:)

I fancy a Mk III Webley in .177", but rarity & especially the price puts me off a little.

As for what anyone collects, well I suppose it's realy a case of what your particular "flavour" is.

When I was a quite a bit younger I only had a bit of a play with my Diana SP50 & on one occasion a BSA Meteor, which I liked & did quite well with. On the same occasion as this I had the chance to have a go with a Hurricane. I couldn't hit the side of a bus with it & was not too keen on the styling.

How times have changed. I have just bought a Hurricane & my view on them has changed completely.

As for rifles. Although still a new model, I fancy a Diana 300R. Even if their reputation is a bit iffy.

Hummm. Firstly apologies in advance because this is going to be a long one :o. So what do I think is collectable? For me its whatever catches my eye. Currently I own six Webleys which I consider collectable and an Airgunaid SP5 .20 (very collectable). I keep and use these alongside my day to day guns which may themselves one day become collectable (two BSA pcps and an SFS HW95K -- see my signature  ), and have also owned many air guns now considered collectable that as I have recently decided to become a collector wish I had kept . These include:

Webley Vulcan MkI (.22)
Webley Stingray (.22)
Webley Stingray Carbine Delux in walnut (.177)
Webley Exocet Carbine SFS Special (.177)

Webley Longbow in walnut (.22)
Webley Longbow in walnut (.177)
Webley Raider Single Shot (.22)
Webley Raider Twin Shot in walnut (.22)

Webley-Venom Viper in walnut (.22)
Webley Hurricane Pistol (.22)
Webley Hurricane Pistol (.177)
Webley G(n)at Pistol (.177)

BSA Scorpion MkII Pistol (.22)
BSA 240 Magnum Pistol (.22)
BSA Standard [1929] (.22)
BSA Super Meteor MkIII (.177)

BSA Meteor MkIV (.22)
BSA Mercury (.22)
BSA Airsporter MkIV (.22)
BSA Airsporter MkVI (.22)

BSA Airsporter MkVIII (.22)
BSA RB-2 Airsporter Carbine (.22)
BSA Superstar MkI (.22)
BSA Superstar MkII (.177)

BSA Goldstar (.22)
BSA Lightning XL (.177)
BSA Lightning XL (.22)
BSA Hornet-K (.22)

Original Diana Model 50 (.22)
Original Diana Model 25 (.177)
Milbro Diana SP-50 Pistol (.177)
Diana MkV SP-5 Pistol (.177)

Air Arms Prosport in walnut (.177)
Air Arms TX200 HC MkII (.22)
Air Arms S400 Carbine (.22)
Air Arms S410 Carbine (.177)

Weihrauch HW100T (.22)
Weirauch HW80 Full Length (.22)
Weirauch HW80K (.22)
Weirauch HW97K (.22)

Titan MC20 in walnut (.22)
Falcon FN19WT in walnut (.22)
FX2000 Carbine (.22)
Axsor Gemini in walnut (.177)

Theoben Fenman (.20)
Westlake Tornado-Tuned B-2 (.22)
SMK B-2 Custom Carbine (.177), and an
Edgar Brothers 60-S (.22)

That is 48 guns on top of the ones in my signature that have been through my hands in the past six years since my return to shooting (42 of which were sold by me over this BBS), all of which (with the possible exception of the SMK B-2) I now wish I'd kept . But with baby number three on the way (yippeeee :D), I can't justify replacing them (yet ;)). So my advice to those who may have any of the air guns above or similar is if you need to sell them because you need the money fine. If you don't need the vouchers however, build a big gun rack and keep them all  ... ATB and to Baz and the admin team, thanks a million for setting up this section :): Gareth W-B.

Hi Ged, the ones I've posted in red are guns I've had and sold over the past few years. The Falcon -- which will sit between my 1960s walnut MkIII and Hawk MkII in the rack -- is in blue in my signature which means its a keeper. Will p-m you the address to send it to on Tuesday (can't wait to hold and use it :D). ATB: Gareth W-B.

First of all I would like to say that I quite like this section of the BBS.
I think that if an airgun has very unusual features, was made in limited numbers and is original, that qualifies it as a very desirable piece. Another thing that I appreciate is how well the particular gun is engineered.
We all appreciate our hobby differently, like someone else said, whatever floats our boat....
I've started my collection with a Park RH 93 recoiless rifle with walnut T/H stock.:)

I agree. I am collecting military styled airguns and the range of manufacturing is around 1920 to now. But the very large majority are old and older.
