Hi knowledgeable gents

Can you help?

I have a couple of queries which you may be able to help with?

I use a Palladin 390 NV with attachable IR.

The other night, my friend and I exchanged guns, just to try our luck with each others air rifles.

I was blown away!

His cross hairs were pin like in their thickness!! His IR made everything look like daylight!

I thought mine was good, but his was much better. I was gutted!

Is there anything I can do to make my cross hairs as thin as his? I would have thought there was as they are both the same make.

Is there any reason why my IR unit is not as powerful as my friends? (We both use rechargeable batteries - CR123s I believe.)

In addition, the two buttons on top of the IR unit have become stuck, is there anything I can do about this?

Any guidance, advice or pearls of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Regards

Marko

Marko.
The ATN illuminators (dual button on the top??) are crud. They are also highly prone to failure. You can focus on the front section.
If the buttons stick,, there are two very small allen grub screws on the top. Remove these and the plate and then use some meths to clean the rubber section that may have grease on it. Beware though as these are crap units.
Get yourself the cobra 75mW unit (forget the 150, it eats batteries and is not much better) it will extend the range by 20-30 metres.

As for the crosshairs, try adjusting the rear adjuster, just in front of the eye bell and try that. This will focus the crosshairs and hopefully make them seem more thin. When you do this, you need to make sure that the front adjustment will still pull the sight picture in focus AND have the crossahairs focused.

The 390 is a good gen 1 unit, but the illuminator change will transfrom it.

Best of luck.

When I had my 390, the 75mw ir gave roughly the same range as the std atn jobbie. If I was you I would go for a higher rated unit than the 75mw to get the extra range required. btw my cross hairs were very fine when setup with the least cross hair intensity and focussed with the rear eyepiece adjustment as previously said.:)
An adjustable power laser unit with a wide spread might be the dog danglies.

Hi,

I have recently bought the ATN3900. Must admit to being a bit pi**ed off to find that the illuminator only had an output of around 75mW instead of the advertised "450mW most powerful on the market"!!

Can anyone recommend another IR illuminator for this scope. Don't want to go mad with money - around £100. Interested in the Cobra 75mW but there are two conflicting opinions in this thread. Views please.

Cheers

The answer maybe in what range do you need it to go to?

30-40 yards (and a tad more) for airgun use, the 75mw LED illuminator will be fine.

If you are looking for light a bit further out, you might need something a little brighter.
