NV advise please. Are prices cheaper in USA?

Evening chaps,
I am taking a honeymoon later in the year in New York. Should I wait till then to pick up a NV setup? My concern is warranties etc. Is there much to go wrong on them?

Would I save money? Would I be ok importing, bearing in mind it will be in my luggage ;)

Any help would be appreciated.

my understanding of the situation is that you can only buy up to gen2.
US gen2 will be vastly cheaper over there but its pretty poo, european gen2 is dear over there too but a load better than US stuff.

gen3 is cheap(ish) and amazing but you will be getting raped in the showers for a few years should you try and bring it back.

Gen III works incredibly well in what you and I think of as 'the dark'. In a 'starlight' situation, Gen III will clearly identify a man at 200-300 yards without difficulty. Imagine that equipment in the hands of terrorist/insurgent in Iraq or Afghanistan.....

For the past 12/18 months penalties for getting caught taking Gen III/high quality Gen II+ (DEP) tubed equipment out of the US without the correct licensing have been substantially upgraded. A seller there tells me he can expect 7 years behind bars if caught selling it abroad.

If you worked for UK Security Services ;) you'd get to use some "legally". It's not illegal to own it here, but if a civvy over here were found to have acquired it illegally ...... Expect a midnight trip [extraordinary rendition] to Egypt.....

America only has to ask for one of us, and we're gone. :eek:
