This is a little anecdote that I'd like to share with all you other NVers.
I'm 46 and my mum is just turned 80. She is fantastic and remains very active (it is only about 5 years ago that she climbed over the top of Sydney Harbour Bridge).
Well Mum was staying with us, and one evening when it was good and dark but with no cloud cover, I took her outside with the NV scope. I turned the scope on for her and let her look down the garden. She was suitably impressed and even more so when I tuned on the IR illumination.
I then turned the IR back off and told her to look up. It's the first time I've heard someone quite literally having their breath taken away! 'It's incredible' she told me!
For those of you who haven't done this, give it a go. You will see stars you never dreamed were there, stars in their millions. It is quite awe inspiring, and makes you realise quite how insignificant we are.
Well, sorry for going off AG for a moment, I was just feeling a little philosophical, and recent events have left me feeling that NOW is the time to say things we want to as we may never get another chance.
Thanks for listening, Phil
