I'm blaming Swat on this but after acquiring three CO2 pistols off of him I had a hankering for a working Beretta (I own a Beretta elite airsoft replica which no longer cycles properly), and so purchased a Umarex 'blued' version off of JS Rambottom, a mere three days later (due to the Royal Mail not delivering after 6 PM, the lazy buggers!) it arrived courtesy of the local post office.
First impressions, nice solid cold hunk of metal, the weight feeling nice and the grip having a good solid, if albeit a little bit wide, feel. No squeaks or movement from the right hand side grip. The weight feels nicely balanced so despite it being a longer barrel than the CP88 it doesn't feel barrel heavy. The trigger pull started out being very grainy and sticky but has smoothed up a little bit after a few shots, it's still gritty however. Shaking the pistol didn't produce any of the rattling noises that I hear with the CP88 and RWS C225.
The pistol comes with standard non-adjustable sights with the option to buy adjustable sights.
A few things that were a slight disappointment, the slide mounted safety doesn't decock the pistol, all it does is rotate the pin away from the hammer and disengages the trigger from the hammer, also the lever on the left hand side that in the real steel version allows you to remove the slide operates the latch to open the barrel forward to allow you to load the pellets, on the real version and on the airsoft replica I have there is a button on the right hand side which needs to be pushed into allow the lever to move, again a minor quibble but it would have been a nice touch to replicate that (full metal airsoft replica's exist which do do that and they are roughly around the same price as the Umarex CO2 pistol so I don't know if it would have added to the cost). Again I'm being picky and a bit unfair, the gun isn't an exact replica and isn't meant to be.
Firing, the beretta handled well, nice crisp (and a tad loud) crack, accuracy is a bit hard to gauge as I'm only shooting from 5 meters (and don't have any experience in shooting at greater distances, I really need to get down to the Bisley airgun club one of these days) but the grouping wasn't bad (for me .. which is to say the pellets didn't go all over the place) and I found it easier to get the front sight horizontally lined up with the rear sights, something I have a problem with on the CP88 and RWS C225 pistols.

Hello there.
Could you let us know how many useful shots you get out of one CO2 capsule.
Tar!:)

I have a CP88 and get about 80 shots per capsule. The capsules vary in price from about 65p to over a quid in the shops, but I see that if you buy 50 from Ramsbottom they're much cheaper.
Incidentally, I've never noticed any rattling or loose parts in mine. It is pellet fussy though. I first used Eley Wasps but it was always jamming up. It pretty much insists on flat-nose type so I now use RWS Hobby, though I still get the occasional jam if they're not pushed right into the chambers.

I get 75-ish depending on weather and how fast I fire;) I got mine secondhand and the blueing wasnt exactly in good condition so I stripped it and polished it:cool: It feels good to hold and hasnt gone wrong, even in my inexperienced hands I can group about an inch at 6 yards:cool:
Hobbies are excellent pellets, they are cheap, surprisingly well made and light so give good velocity out of a co2 pistol.
A very nice pistol as plinkers go, definitely a thumbs up from me:D

I definitely give the Beretta a BIG thumbs up.
I bought mine in 1999 and so far have had no problems with it, plus it still looks 100% the same as when I bought it, no marks or rust.
The front sight is maybe a little cheap and also a bit too thick for my liking (obscurers small target too easily).
The trigger on mine is exellent however, either in single or double action.
Not too sure on how many shots, think it depends on shooting style, if you are unloading 8 rounds as quick as possible time and time agiain it certainly reduces the number of shots.
I've got 5 mags fot it, and I usually get to use them all maybe more (can't really rememebr).
Only gripes is with smaller hands/fingures the grip is a llittle bulky compared to the likes of a CP88 or CP99 Walther, but maybe this is true of a real Beretta 92F????
Also the weight makes it a little unwieldy for either prolonged use or fast moving. It's certainly nocitably heavier than the 6" CP88 competition with red dot scope and significantly heavier than a CP99 with silencer.
My biggest complaint is the catches on the hard case pop open on their own, mean you have to tie it shut or leave it laying flat.

Just waiting for a Beretta to arrive, fingers crossed it's as good as your ones.I'm gonna use it for backyard plinking, but I hope it will be fairly accurate at a bit more than 5yds.

Great plinking fun gun but they are loud!! Dont bother with the silencer that matches it, its crap, although the adaptor is 1/2" so any other sile:D ncer will fit and make it super quiet!!

As far as I know only the Elite 1A (which I've only seen as an airsoft replica, there is an Elite II but that has a rounded back) and the Beretta vertec have a straight back on the grip.
The rest, including the US M9 pistol (which is the Beretta 92F) have a rounded grip. I'm not aware of what, if any, difference there is in design from a civilian Beretta M92FS and a Beretta M92F.

AFAIK the real M92 as similar contour grips to the 92F (except that early models had wooden grips) - the big differences were the 92 had the old heel-of-butt magazine release rather than the more ergonomic Colt/Browning style one under the trigger guard and a safety mounted on the frame rather than the slide mounted combined safety/de-cocking lever which came in on the 92S. All 92s have bulky frame/grips which can be a problem for small hands. The Walther P99 makes a big selling point of having interchangeable grips to suit various size hands. I don't know if that was also the case with the 88.

According to Beretta themselves the M9 is an M92FS, not the M92F:
http://www.beretta.com/index.aspx?m=74&idc=2&ids=27
According to Wiki:
M92FS: The current production version of the 92F with the only change being the addition of a slide-mounted ambidextrous safety (also acts as decocking lever) and a bigger hammer pin and slot in the slide to stop over travel. It is this version that was adopted by the US Army as the M9 Pistol.

Ah hell, you're making me all misty-eyed - I've just sold mine here on the BBS!
Did I do the right thing?
But plinkers, fantastic fun as they are, don't put bunnies in the pot.
I also hate the plastic case. It split after two weeks so Edward kindly sent me a new one.
He did say they weren't really meant to be used as storage cases, just a means of keeping the gun safe until it was sold and put in a proper pistol case.

Ramsbottoms can do you a 100pack of Walther co2 for about £48 (Which includes postage),my local shops charge between 66-80 p, for each capsule , so I either buy from JSR or a guy at at my club ,who buys crossman co2 with( the lube in it )in mega bulk and sells us 20 for £10:D :D
Cheap here...............

I too thought the M9 was a 92F but I can't argue with the manufacturer! :)

I've just got - and come back from trying out - one of these.
Very impressed with the nickel finish, I was afraid it might look a bit mismatched with the hammer etc still black, but the contrast is, if anything, more attractive. The overall heft and feel is also nice, feels good and solid in the hand.
BTW, with RWS Hobby I got 11 magazines and then called it a day without trying to squeeze any more out (this was with a steady single action, no rapid DA at all). First 2 on a 10m target to check the POI, then the rest on one of those walther 4 knockdown ducks/centre disc reset targets.
