Do you mean old METAL targets like the Cardew Chinaman where you knocked the head up and down? We had one of those in the club years ago and shot it to pieces. :( I should have saved it for posterity (and my collection ;) )

Sorry i should have been more specific,I was thinking more paper targets ,i have had some nice old winchester off the bay,and a few, from generous folk,
but the trouble is ,they were made with the intention of destruction in mind,so not to sure how scarce they are...

Hi Tim,
I put a thread on here ages ago asking if anybody remembered these: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v48/kjon51/Image282.jpg

They are what we used back in the early 80's for PROPER field target shooting! (I'll just go & get my tin hat!)

I have a full set in mint condition, & no I won't be getting rid of or shooting them, but I have been seriously thinking about the possibilities of re-introducing them. :D

I also have some originals of those that Baz has mentioned - Rats Pigeons Squirrels etc.
Let me know if you would like any more info on them,
John

Nice targets

Might have to have a go at recreating some of them

IIRC The scoring system was/is something like;

In the 10?mm white dot without breaking the edge = 5

In the 10?mm white dot but breaking the edge = 3

In the black silhouette completely - anywhere = 2

In the black silhoutte but breaking the edge = 1

In the white surround /but on the card = 0

SO a maximum of 5 shots per target giving a maximum per card of 25, all at different ranges, & we used to shoot 250 or 300 shot comps.

You youngsters don't know how easy you've got it :) :D

(Gets tin hat & flack jacket) :D :) ;)

Tim,
I was going to send you a better picture, where you could see the writing, but I find you have no contact information. Email me if you would like more info. Here's one you can hopefully read: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v48/kjon51/Image286.jpg

The writing goes: Wellbrook Shooting Club Hunter Target No*
Wild life depends on you - Spare them for future generations. Shoot at these targets instead.
Supplied by E.L. Robinson, Wellbrook Farm, Mayfield, E. Sussex, the guy who used to run the competitions on his farm, back in the early 80's.
This was me with the winners trophy 1981 I believe, it's definitely a Bisley 81 T shirt! & My trusty HW80 .22 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v48/kjon51/John5.jpg
2nd place guy had a HW35E, & 3rd a FWB127 IIRC

Hi TJG
Would be grateful if you would send me some JPGs or other graphics of any of your vintage targets. I would love to give them a page of their own on my website. www.targetbunny.btik.com
If you do send them please include relevant measurements so I can copy them accurately.

Target Bunny
