im in need of help :o
1.
ive just got permission on a golf course near me so im chuffed.ive got to go early mornin or late night with the nv. so the question is would my setup be capeable of bashing some bunnies.
i have a bsa superten with a yukon gen 1 monocular with a cage on the front and ir illuminator.
ive only ever had it out in the garden at night the pictures ok ish but when i turn the magnifacation up on my scope it becomes more blured.
i have already changed the nv lense from a x3 mag to a x1 mag so what else can i do.

2. is a bipod a necessity on a glof course with nv setup

thanx lads

Woodmister,

What day scope are you using? With that bit of info I'm sure you'll get the help you need.

Cheers

Hi,

I remember reading somewhere (on this site perhaps) that in terms of approaching the fluffy fairway wreckers its best to adopt the guise of the normal users, i.e. Normal clothes, (not suggesting Jack Nicklaus strides here!)

THe bunnies apparently are wary of moving bushes!

Happy hunting, by the way if you find any Titleist Pro V 1 balls give me a shout as I may have them off you!

Sounds suspiciously like it's not correctly parallaxed when you adjust the mag.

In fact, thinking about it ......

You do know that when you adjust the magnification on a scope in daylight, you have to re-focus (re-parallax) the image, don't you?

It'll be no different when you have an NV unit attached.

Is this what is happening, or are the cross-hairs on your scope going out of focus?

i`ve shot on golf course, but not with NV.
used a cluson lamp,on my own or with a mate.he lamps, i shoot and vice versa.
a good combination,if you have someone with you,who knows what they are doing ,as well as you.
we always asked the green keeper, where the most damage is being done or where they have seen a lot of rabbits.
we may know this but, they are here when we are not and the rabbits,do ignore them,as they get used to them on the golf course.

Yep.

Tends to be long shots with FAC grade equipment. Rabbits will see you for miles. ;) :D Find where they eat. Lay down .... and wait. ;)

A bunch of us were out one night in two different parties. Froze our nuts off, and saw almost nothing.

Going back to the car, we'd seen where one rabbit had been leastways. Of all the places the little b'stard could dig, practically in the middle of a green. Not our most productive night. :o

NV won't give you a cloak of invisibility though.

In the spring/summer, you'll be able to crawl you way closer to where the rabbits are, but in the wet months..... ;)

If you have some cover, you just need to get to that. If not, get yourself to where you can reach the rabbits with 12ft/lbs. Lay down on something that'll allow you to keep dry, and wait.

Done it myself, and had them almost within arms reach, but I kept really still. I was also completely camo'd up .... I don't smoke, and I don't have any of my hunting clothes washed in fabric conditioner either. ;)

I shoot a golf course using N/V and take a different approach to Geoffrey. I just walk around scanning the ground until I pick up the eyes, get within range and the rest is history. I do agree though that N/V doesn't give you an invisible cloak, even with the wind in your favour quite a few Rabbits detect your presence but I'm still able to take on average about 30 per week. This is with Gen 2 equipment though and I would imagine the detection range would be far greater than that of a gen 1 unit, this enables you to stalk at an earlier stage and prove more successfull.

You can walk up to rabbits within 25/30 yards?

Come down here and show what we're doing wrong....... We can't get within 100 yards. ;)

Maybe the rabbits down here eat more carrots? :D

No, not me. Tried it a couple of times 3 years ago, and it didn't work for me.

I've seen through some that did (and would) but my budget doesn't stretch to £1500-£2000+ that is needed to get a system of that quality.

Hence the (much) less expensive 'add-on' system. :)

You'll have to watch out for the stuff as it comes up for sale in the Sale Section. ;)

You could also place an 'ad' in the Wanted Section. ;)

It's the only way you'll get nice kit for your budget I'm afraid. :o

imo ;)

-keep up wind
-no scents on you / no smoking
-keep low,with steady movement
-get a bud to lamp occasionly
-& as said ,keep the green keeper on your side ask him where the problems are..

check the shot 1st & green for the odd dog walker, oh yeh !!

-apply for fac (rimmy 'minimum')

have fun !!:) you'll soon get to know the greens...
