I've prepared myself for a slating, so here goes.

Trawling the BBS and applying oodles of Googlidge, I'm still none the wiser. Does this exist?

Heb Tech House and Soviet Bazaar is out of business, and haven't found anywhere else supplying the XVF-01 attachment. ATN seem to have something similar (non-digi), but that's not out until June and can't be exported.

Is there anyone else that does these?

Any info appreciated, but in respect of Baz' post, if you sell 'em please PM me direct or email me on james.beaven@gmail.com.

Splendid.

They are mounted on the back of the scope (eye end ;) ) not the front (objective)

Unless you mean a 'sniper kite' very nice if you have £7.5k going spare. They mount in front of your day scope. :)

Eek! Yup, that's a bit over what I'm thinking of spending. Installing flood lighting on my shoot would probably be marginally more cost effective:D

Not sure if everyone's seen this ATN one http://www.atncorp.com/NightVision/NightVisionWeaponSights/ATNPS22-3 ? It's not a digi, but it's the sort of thing I'm looking for. Don't suppose the kit that Heb Tech House was bringing out is available elsewhere?

There are a couple of companies that are developing these are present, these are aimed at the Military/Law Enforcement market but will filter down to commercal in time, they are not likely to be available till the end of this year or early next year but they are being developed in IIT formatt.

Rob

They are available, I've seen a couple but the price is a little high for my budget at £7.5k

Mounting the bugger can be interesting but has been overcome.

And for hunting, fairly undesirable.

You will always want the wieght of the gun close to your shoulder. The more weight you put to the front of rifle, the more difficult it will be to carry and use.

Though there will always be someone who wants to be different. Like the shooter with a 6lb rifle and a T8 on the front of it. ;) :D

I'd be happy to 'own' either, but we're getting a bit off-thread here. ;) :D

[But seriously, I did enjoy you 300Winmag. Lovely shooter. ;) ]

Forgive me for being dense but.....

I understand with rear mounted NV, you focus both the reticule and image onto the NV receptor....

But with front mounted....do you focus the scope onto the NV screen???

That would mean focusing to about 2 inches range!!!
I think it must be more complicated than this!

Can anyone help....my brain hurts!

Pete:confused:

You've never used a 'bore-sighter' obviously.;)

These things are attached or plugged into the end of your rifle muzzle. There's no problem at all focussing on them. You scope acts like a giant magnifying glass.

Don't concern youself about these units. They won't sell in ay numbers and are (in practical terms) undesirable.

If you 'pitch up' in one spot to shoot a fixed target, these tools will provide a good solution, but I doubt they'll be cheap because of the small numbers they'll be sold in.

If you stalk, imagine how pleasant this is likely to be if you have to raise the extra weight 200 times in the course of an evening. I can't see they'll ever be a Gen I version either, so you'll be looking at £2000+ for a unit here in the UK.

The 'add-on' system we already use, puts the weight in the right place, close to the shooter. Advances in digital technology may not produce the same resolution as a Gen III at present, but it'll catch up fast. Save your money for a while. ;)

No, but I did see a nice picture in Jan/Feb Sporting Rifle....someone had live fired with a bore sighter in the barrel.....reminded me of when they destroy a tanks gun....banana time:eek:
That must have come as quite a shock!!
