Nothing kinky, but I found out the hard way, been using my scope for a weekends ratting & bunny bopping, woke up early monday morning not able to open my right eye, looking in the mirror my entire eye area had swollen up and surrounded by blisters :eek: . in a perfect circle from the eyepiece on a pns scope. anyone know where I can get a silicone or some other type eye cup. I have tried covering the end with black tape and this reduces the reaction a bit, I now have use the scope without it, which bathe's my face in a eery green glow :D...not ideal.

Could you get a srugical glove, latex free or whatever you need, put that over the end of the eyepiece, and then cut and appropriate size hole in it?
Alternatively you could get one of the camera hoods, like the used to have in victorian times....that would cut out the glow:D
Pete:)

<Sorta thinking aloud....>
Rubber isn't used much these days because it's 'lifed'. Can't remember the names of the other materials used (though butyl <sp> springs to mind), so I doubt it's an allergy to organic material.
If you are covering the 'rubber' with tape, how is contact affecting your skin?
As an experiment, I would be tempted to have the eyecup touch my arm for 30 minutes with the unit switched off. I'd also have the unit touch the other arm, with it switched on (at night, obviously) with the light from the tube bathing my skin.
This might be a prudent exercise. Your skin might repair itself perfectly, but your eyes are much more vulnerable. :eek:

I've been using the scope without the eye cup for a few months without any ill effect's whatsoever, when I taped it there is a small seam that tape wont stay put on, Yup that's the bit that got me again woke up looking like the elephant man again (well a bit more than usual). I've looked for a replacement made from silicone and found none. A ex diver friend told me there was quite a few people who had to obtain silicone diving mask's as they had the same reaction as me......not sure of the black hood might scare the cack out of my Bud, he's getting on a bit :D

Not doing much for us either, bud. ;) :D :D
Put a picture up. Someone here might have a solution. Sounds like you might need to butcher one o'them scope enhancer jobbies. ;)
