After buying one from a member of this forum a while back, i thought id share my thoughts.

Its built really well, like a tank, feels solid and heavy and inspires confidence in the hand,.

After picking up the Berretta, i instantly noticed that the grip was far to big for me to be used comfortably, the CP88 has a slimmer grip and for me(smallish hands) fits just right.

The trigger was spot on, very smooth and light in single action, and still very good in double action, and ive had no problems with it feeling gritty/graunchy etc, but maybe thats because mine was a used xample, and they get better with time (i have heard that comment made)

I have the Nickel version, and its stood up well to the abuse i have given it, no chips or scratches at all, and very hard wearing and always looks the biz :)

After reading other peoples opinions of these pistols, i was led to belive they wernt very accurate, but i have found otherwise.
Granted they are not accurate to the degree that rifles or maybe single shot air pistols are, but they are not bad either, i can hit a 3.5inch sqaure at 15 metres 8 out of 10 times going fairly fast using accupels, which i thought was pretty good considering it is a fun fast c02 shooter.

[COLOR="Red"]THE BAD

The catch that releases the top slide to change mags can be a nightmare sometimes,it can be very stiff and almost unable to release by hand, not good for quick mag changes, its happened to me only 3 times now, but its a pain in the ar$e.

Just recently i have had a few jams, this has never happened before, and it only does it with one mag, so i suspect that one of them is worn, and some replacments would cure this.

All in all, i really like this little pistol, it feels very comfy for me in the hand,i find it accurate enough for what it is and supposed to do, and looks the part in its nickel finish, but i do like the black ones to.

I havnt commented on power, because im led to belive that all of the umerex clones put out near enough the same fps, and if not its not by a great deal.

I would give it 8 out of 10, and can live with the few short comings because its so much fun, and feels just right in the hand.

After having this for a while now, im hankering after a smith and wesson after seeing the reviews on here....DIRTY HARRY :)

hi mate a great review.....

i had a beretta 92f (now porky has it:) ) and i really liked it for backyard fun,
as for accuarcy i think that they're arent bad, however i was just shooting double action all the time on open sights, i believe a tactical red dot would really help accuracy whilst complementing the looks...... yes the mags do wear in time but are cheap and easy to get hold off (all the umarex co2 pistols use the same type), i found that a little oiling of the mag mechanism helped to and also pellet selection (i used rws hobbies in mine).........also a little oil on the 1st sparklet of the day helps keep the seal strong and proper too.......

ive not used the cp88 but its not going to be too dissimilar and your review pretty much summed up my 1st thoughts of shooting the 92F...before which i had the misfortune of buying an Anics skif 3000:( so it was ALOT better and lived up to my expectations...

like wise im tempted by the S&W and its accuracy and delectable trigger............AND THE LOOKS>>>>>PHWOOAR

no mustnt........ must resist......:D :D :D :D :D

cheers

I've one of these too, it's a good pistol :)

Still find it more fun shooting airsoft replica's though, just can't get use to not having some (as pitiful as it is on an airsoft replica) kick and blow back.

Ok, ive just stripped the cp88, literally taken the whole thing to pieces and i smoothed down all the little rough edges of the moving parts (trigger assembly) polished them up used a bit of brasso and put a tiny bit of grease on all the moving parts and put it al together..........WOW what a difference it has made, its now soooo smooth compared to what it used to be, and it wasnt that bad before hand.

im impressed, i was always scared to take it apart when i first got it incase i ruined it, but it really isnt that hard.

definatly worth it

good one MALI these do need relubing regulary as the co2 kills the lube off quick..... my 92f was brand spankers and yet a quick lube helped the action made the trigger sooooo much better......

cant beat a bit of tinkerin'

I've found theres a knack on operating the slide catch; I push against it with my thumb and backwards and then slide it down. Hope you understand what I mean, might help you out

Yeh i get ya:) , after stripping it and putting some lube in the right places, it seems to have cured it, its just so much better now, thanks for the info anyway.

Selling my CO2 S & W is one of my biggest regrets. I had a CO2 Beretta to start with and the S & W was more accurate (maybe down to the longer barrel and the fact that it didn't move when you changed mags) and had a much nicer trigger action. Oh, and you got 10 shots per mag instead of 8! Only downside to the S & W was higher CO2 consumption - 50 shots compared to around 70 with the Beretta.
Now I'm poor and grubbing around for a cheap CP88 to compliment my BSA Lightning and Gamo PR15. Thanks to all for the review and the tips in this thread :D .

I have to admit I havent had a problem with my top slide catch at all so far, nice and smooth as well as positive.
I did have a problem fitting the aftermarket moderator to it though, it just didnt seem to want to mate positively. A firm whack was needed with a wooden mallet to ensure it bedded properly. (dont rely on tightening the screw!)
I havent tried stripping and cleaning/smoothing/lubing yet but will have a go some time soon as it sounds worthwhile.
