I purchased this rifle after a 15 year airgunning hiatus. My purchases from the ages of 15-21 had been what must have been one of the first Webley Omegas, then a BSA Superstar, then finally a Theoben carbine.
My choice was based on instinct, wide browsing of internet forums/reviews, and a desire to own a rifle that was as 'stand alone' as possible. By that final criteria, I mean something that would last as long as possible using the minimum of maintenance effort.
My first impressions of this rifle straight from the box were favourable. A lengthy rifle with the HW silencer screwed on to the thread-cut carbine barrel, its weight is nonetheless nicely balanced. I personally find the rifle very attractive, and possessed of an elegance that belies its extremely solid construction. The beech stock is nicely finished and comfortable to use, with well cut chequering in the pistol grip, and a fore-end that covers the breech block. The blueing is deep and even, and the quality of the metalwork is quite superb. This bad boy has been built like the proverbial panzer tank.
Performance? I find the trigger superb - crisp, predictable let-off, and the re-settable safety catch works a treat for the right-hander. The rifle is smooth to cock, and I find it very gentle and accurate to fire as long as it is gently cradled rather than firmly gripped and held into the shoulder. Recoil is minimal. This was built to cleanly despatch rabbits, and that is what it does with the minimum of fuss. The ability to keep it permanently loaded without risking the damage that is popularly thought to affect springers is a real boon for quickly getting a shot off when an opportunity presents itself. Sling swivels are a good addition if you want to carry this rifle all day in the field. It's quick on target, and a steady shooting platform.
Great hunting tool, and one I hope to keep for a very long time.
