i recently was lucky enough to find an absolutley mint gc2 mk3 at blackpool air rifles. numbered 255, if this was your gun, its a credit to you.
make no mistake, theres nothing on sale at the moment that compares to the finish on this gun. the cylinder is alloy thats anodised to a deep deep black thats an ideal finish compared to its flawless blueing.
the stock is a thumb hole walnut somewhere around a grade 3 with a pronounced right hand cheek piece and thumb through or up configuration.
the action is a bit daunting at first because there are 2 plungers and a bolt to contend with. cocking the total loss system is easy once mastered.
first push in the rear plunger to pre arm the system. next open the bolt and thumb a .177 pellet into the loading channel, close the bolt then depress the side plunger to finally set the trigger.
a crack it heard when firing and due to its 3 slotted muzzle brake, any lift in the muzzle is eliminated.
the 2 stage trigger is light and crisp with no creep at all.
i chronoed the gun at 786fps, 789fps, 785fps and then shot another 25 shots between 785fps and 790fps. i then gave up. around 100 shots per 200bar fill are on tap too.
all in all im glad i went to bar for a ride out.

In my opinion the GC2 is a rifle that was a good 10 years ahead of its time when it was designed and is still very capable of stunning perfromance now.

If you really want to be critical you could say the trigger isn't as sophisticated as some others and the shot count is lower - but the gun does exactly what it was designed to do, and must be one of the few rifles that seldom if ever needed any mechanical modification out of the box to perform.

I have four GC2's in my collection representing a Mk1 (no. 020 IIRC), a Mk2, a Mk3 and Tom Walton's old stainless steel Mk3 FTXS and they are all a pleasure to shoot.

Enjoy your GC2 it is probably the nicest looking pcp rifle out there and beautiful to shoot too.

My GC2 mk 3 is number 227.
Bought second hand and is in mint condition.
Same stock as yours came with it but I could not resist a John Welham when it was offered.

Original GC2 factory stocks were a Custom Stocks product.

But IIRC Sportsmatch offered the option of selling an action only as they recognised that people would wish to fit their own choice of stock.

I have seen a wide variety of stocks fitted to GC2's from Airmasters / John Welham; Custom Stocks; Nick Jenkinson; Dave Kobayashi and so on.

The standard stock is actually a very nice design, especially if you got the adjustable cheekpiece option.

I had a Mk2 serial no 166 in a high grade John Welham stock beautiful guns. For info the cylinder is not blued it is powder coated.

Enjoy your new gun.

i carried out a feasibility study to see how quiet it would be by modifying a daystate mfc first and it was very quiet indeed with all the silencers i tried but it added too much length to the gun. the one neils making wont add length other than the silencer.

Great looking rifle, someone sent me some pictures of there GC2 and i was amazed how nice they look  :)

Are these heavy rifles? or is it just the stock that makes it look quite bulky? :o

picked this up today from uk neil.

both neil and i were speechless at the efect of a logun qgs silencer on the gun. its without doubt the quietest air rifle ive ever used. the holes are access points to the mounting screws and theres an insert screwed into the body after mounting on the gun. this insert seals against the barrel.
im delighted with it.

Lovely piece of work, the GC2 should be quiet as there is only one moving part during firing i.e. the valve stem.

Nice Nick Jenkinson stock on it as well.

i just got back in. 3 woodys arent getting any xmas pudding this year. the only 2 snags are its bloody heavy to lug without a sling and it takes a bit of getting used to because of the length. ideal bunny sniping tool though. long range shots are easy off a biopd and the length doesnt matter.
