Bit of careful cleaning each time fired has lead to this rifle eventually putting up groups at 100yds similar in size to the factory test group shot at 55m- 3/8" for 5 shots from a pair of bags in still air. Scope was Leupold EFR at 20x. Trigger definitely part of it, but I also feel the gun has become more accurate over time. Ammo is Rem 17g V Max. My old CZ was never quite this accurate, but then it didn't have the Brooks trigger kit. Can't remember the last time I took out my .22LR or 22C/F- the .17 seems to do it all.

It's good to see a true comparison between the annie and the Cz at last by someone who has owned both. I have an annie and have shot a Cz and found the same.

Did you adjust the trigger as per the instructions in the manual? I found that this made a huge difference making the trigger the best I've ever used.

I had Dykes put in a 2 stage trigger as that is what I have in my XIV carbine, and like it very much. I havent altered it at all. Best rifle I have ever used. After all is said and done (and I can't say whether this only applies to my old CZ and my Annie), the Anschutz is capable of smaller groups than the CZ. I was using it last night out to 205 yds in still air on bunnies. Just staggering performance, even when you can only see upper part of body/head at extreme range. Not sure whether the improvement in accuracy has been a barrel running in thing or a user getting used to the rifle thing. Suspect its the former, as I am fairly consistent (ex GB national squad). Pleased you like yours. Nice bit of kit. Suffolk is shooting heaven- Deer, hares, lots of space and best of all a long way from London.

Does your 1517 have counterbored muzzle?

Yes. Curious thing- don't know why they do it other than muzzle crown protection

Yes I'm not short of something to shoot about here :D

Cant understand your liking for the 2 stage trigger though, I just bought a 1417 thumbhole in 22lr with a 2 stage trigger and the first thing I did is adjust it into a single stage but I ain't knocking ya each to there own ;)
The single stage trigger does have the edge though.

I fitted a Staff Synthetic Stock to my 1517 but I'm finding it too heavy, going to ring Dykes and see if I can get a thumbhole for it, the one on my 1417 is a perfect fit for me.

I hated the 'Bournville plain chocolate' wood on mine when I first had it. But now I like it! You're right about the thumbhole- lovely stock. But I already have one on my XIV.22

Do you reckon the counter boring is to eliminate the possibility of bell mouthing on threading.
My xiv does not have it, my mates later one has.

Hi Neil

I'm not qualified to say, but it might be. My XIV has it.
