I hope you'll be posting a review of the custom Ruger and LSR. Just don't start them off with 'When I was in the Army' or 'Back in the golden age before the 1988 Firearms Amendment Act.'! <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::)-->

If you go to the NRA web site at www.nra.org.uk (http://www.nra.org.uk) and look under the heading of accomodation and ranges it will give you some details of the ranges at Bisley. Including Short Siberia.

Unfortunately they dont have any pictures.

Basically in the good old days LONG before the 1988 firearms amendment act, there were two ranges which were "off" the main camp and which you needed to come out of the camp, down Queens Road and then take a left - they were alledgedly known as the Siberias because of the fact that being sent off there was a pain in the butt (its a long way round if you are carrying a rifle ammo and scope etc)a bit like the Russians exiled any trouble makers to "Siberia".

I believe Short Siberia was out to 300 yards at one time in the good old days LONG before the 1988 firearms amendment act but in recent years changes to range safety templates have reduced it to be used at 200 and 100 yards.

I has been much improved in the last few years with a covered roof being added to the firing point at 100 yds and some concrete benches set up at 200 for benchrest shooters.

Conversely Long Siberia (600 yds?) fell into decline and became disused and overgrown for a long time. In the last couple of years it has been put into use for a clay pigeon layout <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::mad:--> (it would be a nice rifle range).

Short Siberia has developed a lot of use since the NRA in their infinite wisdom allowed "shorts" range to be ripped up and converted to another ****ing clay out <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::mad:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::mad:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::mad:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::mad:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::mad:-->

Point of clarity, "Firearms" = RF/CF only?

<img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_confused.gif" alt="Confused" width="15" height="22"><!--graemlin::confused:-->

P.S. Still think Black Marble would be best for "stevo's" rifle.....
