Ive just sold my 22 air ranger, which i have been useing for hunting and hft,In favour of one in 177.
In 22 cal i found this gun to be very accurate at distance,a tad front heavy with a 500c bottle.,but this was quickly disregarded after getting use to it:)

At close up ranges it was accurate, but seemed to excel at range.
This gun is pretty silent and thats thanks to the barrel shroud insert, identical to the one used on the airwolf.
it can be made near enough totally silent, By adding an extra silencer to the end.
But the down side to this for me was thee extended length.

The shroud measureing 19" with an added silencer, would make it to long imho.
For hunting i cant fault this gun,for hft it was excellent,But let down on certain things, wieght issues.
So i decided to make a change, and bought the same gun but in a differant cal 177 :)
I was also lucky enough to source one, with a 400c bottle on :)

Everything was looking good, the wieght issue had been taken care of,and i now had an air ranger wieghing 8 an a quarter pound, scoped up :)
Also the tragectory was ten times better, and once zeroed in at 35 yards,it was basicly a case of dead on + right through the range upto 40:eek:
The downside,I took this gun out last night to one of my shoots with sniper 22.
And it was pretty loud:confused:

So much so,that i doubted i wouldnt get the chance for a follow up shot if i missed.
TONY(SNIPER 22) had brought his modded airwolf with him,and this gun was quiet:eek:
I couldnt understand why my 22 ranger was near silent, but this 177 ranger sounded like a rimmy:D
I even tryed changeing the baffles and insert to no avail.

To add lenghth with a silencer wasnt an option.
I love the shroud, air rangers and wolfs have.
But had no option,i had to lose the shroud.
So the shroud, was replaced with a few bits and bobs off a mk3,As seen in the pics.

The total lengh of the barrel is 23" which i can live with, but totally silent bar a tiny hammer spring noise.
Which is near enough totally silent,on a par with my airwolf i kidd you not:eek:
I will update this with a bit of chrono figures etc later this week >> pics >>> http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5708232

I hunt with my air ranger .177 and acepted it is a touch noisy, but really not an issue if you make the shot count first time.
