I bought a .177 full length 80 a while ago. I found it to be a well built rifle but had one or two problems with it. After trigger adjustment the pull weight was too heavy for me and the stock screws frequently loosened found myself going out with a screwdriver. Also the action was very twangy and the POI dropped noticably when left cocked for any length of time.

So I contacted Dave hall on here to have it tuned.
Work under taken. Tune rifle and fit new kit. Fit piston buttons. Fit brass stock inserts, brass safety toggle and stainless steel stock screws. Tune trigger and set pull to 2lb.

The rifle arrived back clean as a whistle (not covered in finger marks) in a hard case that Dave let me have free of charge. The cocking is now silky smooth. The power settled down to a steady 11.2ft/lb. Shooting, the trigger is crisp and light with hardly any felt recoil and the twang has completely gone. I can now shoot good groups more consistanly. The stock screws stay in place, I have put around 1500 pellets through with no problems.
I would rate this work 10/10 and extremely good value for money. And the rifle was back within 3 weeks. Good job Dave.

This tends to back up my view that the HW80 should not be sold in the UK in its standard form without buyers being warned that tuning will be needed. It is a lovely- if a little large- rifle which was designed to be run at 18 -20 ft lb not at our legal limit. Any shooter reading this review should realise that money needs to be spent on getting these rifles tuned. Then they are truly excellent.
Enjoy your transformed rifle!:)

Agreed :)

I had a HW80 a long time ago, that I tuned up myself a little bit, by replacing the original scorched piston seal off that evn had metal splinters in it and putting a Venom spring in it, made a great difference to it.

Had the pleasure of shooting a Venom (not v-mach) 80 a few months ago, and it was smooth as silk to shoot. Weight dont think is that much of a problem with an 80, as its really quite well balanced in full length with a silencer on it. Funny bit, after saying to the owner how nice it was too shoot, first comment out his mouth was "It's not for sale, and it wll never be" :D Don't blame him. :D
