View Full Version : GINB stock review

I decided to get my little Viper a custom made stock as a wedding present. I've been one of the biggest critics of GinB on here, nothing personal but I believe in buying British.

The stock was a MK3 to go on a blinged up MK3, the complication is that we had to get it made to measure because of her dimunitive dimensions. (except her ass which is the size of Jupiter and its moons)
We also wanted a particular plaque engraving, plus bits and pieces of specific bling.

The stock is away being oiled and prettied at the moment so no pics, but suffice to say that the workmanship is astonishing. The lines and symmetry are perfect and the measurements absolutely spot on. Her Majesty is thrilled to bits.

We opted for the darker wood (Sono Kebang) which is stunning in colour and grain, producing the perfect colour to offset the chrome we will be having done.

We didn't have the lighter end cap because of the light / dark / chrome wouldn't look as good as dark and chrome, but made no difference.

The only negative I have about the stock is the weight, you may want to consider a Teak stock and get it a little lighter, but the fit is so perfect for Sammie that the weight seems of little effect.

I'll post some pics when I get back but it's a waste of time, the pics will never do the workmanship justice.

I have bought an FT stock for my hunting S10, having seen Sammies stock I'll be having a GINb and also another MK3 stock for Samies hunting rifle.

These are unbelievable in workmanship and value.

Oh yes - and another little thing. They are incredibly easy to deal with, responsive to e-mails and quick to offer polite advice if asked. Really top people. Viva Italia, buy Indonesian that what I say :-)

Big thanks to Air Arms David for his help as well.

I'm glad she's happy Gary. Looking forward to seeing the gun in the flesh as the little details you've had planned will make it very special indeed, pics will be great.

Best of luck for your married life.

I think you have summed up Ginb perfectly Gary,

I originally wanted a Custom Stocks sporter for my HW95 but when I called them they were too busy working for the trade and did not want to do any private custom work :(
I was gutted at the time as I used to have a Custom Stocks Tyrolean Sporter on my HW77 Mamba which was very comfortable to use and suited my hands exactly.

I looked into Ginb stocks and have to admit to being a little dubious about the source of the wood and labour at first, but a little google research and reading up on posts here convinced me there was no problem.

From the moment I contacted them they were nothing but helpful, I even got emails from Mila telling me when Andrea was away and apologising for any delay in responding to emails.

My stock arrived very quickly after despatch and the quality is superb, I really was surprised at how well finished it was.
Mine is also in Sono Kembang, it is a little heavier than a standard beech stock, but on a 95 which is lightweight anyway I think that will only help with steadying the gun and absorbing recoil. (not that there will be a lot of that by the time Mr Pope has done the business on it;))

I'm sorely tempted to get an S200 purely to provide an excuse for getting one of Antonios superb one piece stocks which really do look smart :D

My experience with Ginb was fantastic. What did suprise me was how much extra weight there was but I think that's partly because on the Steyr your removing little and adding lots when swapping stocks. Communication with Ginb was fantastic despite me having loads of questions and comments. I've been having some lower back problems which has meant I often have to go back to the standard stock just to get the weight down which is a shame. Beautiful bit of wood and great service.

I like the Ginb stocks in every way except perhaps the weight on larger models designed for precharged rifles where damping isn't such an issue.
Using one on a Hw95-even lazaglided/v glided- would make that jumpy snappy little beauty really nice.
I have one on a HW80 and it is great. Oiled sono kembang. Also an interesting ambi one also in sono kembang with an adjustable cheek piece which fits the TX series. Heavy certainly but damps down the recoil a real treat. There is no substitute for weight to damp down springer recoil.:D

Very interested in the accolades on this and other threads for Ginb, can you please tell me what this stands for, is it a company name?
I assume it is indonesian based?
Is there a web page so that I might take a look?
Thanks, Graham:confused:

the only criticism of the stock is the pistol grip was naturally slippy due to the shiney finish.
i stippled the grip myself and its fair to say my heart was in my mouth as i started the job. its turned out quite well i think.
heres some pics.
