Did some long range at the weekend on the 100yd range at Dowry Hill.
I put the board at 100yds exactly, and once I was sighted in I shot a 20 shot group of 1.8 inches centre to centre. I was shooting with a friend and fellow club member who witnessed the group and measured it.

I shot off the knee (standard FT sitting position)with little or no wind to speak of. It was done with my EV2 and Nikko combo running at 770fps.

Was going to post this on the Long range thread the guy from Oz started, but can't seem to find it.

I reckon in the right conditions and bench rested, this could be reduced somewhat. Anyone else had a go?

Will take a pic of the group and post it up on this thread later tonight.

This group was shot at 100yds as stated above. The pellets were Daystate 4.51s straight out of the tin.

The outer yellow circle is 40mm, the same size as a standard FT target.

Thanks mate. I am sure that on a very calm day and benchrested, I could keep them all in the 40mm disc.

Sniper-wolf, that's excellent shooting mate. I would you to see what groups you get bench rested as well as to try it out to 150 yards.

Thanks for the comment.

Dont think I would like to go much more than 100yds with sub 12fpe, I will try to increase the range a bit more to see what happens.

Nice shooting Mr Wolf. It's amazing what can be done with so little power. I noticed that the pellets still appear to be entering properly nose first so must be in stable flight, with the benefit of a spirit level and a bench rest who knows what's possible.

I have a spread of no more than 7fps over 50 shots.

the picture of the target card is very encouraging
had to bring this back up as this is amazing for three reasons 1 its a first attempt i believe and its amazingly accurate at that, 2 OFF THE KNEE and 3 it was done with a sub 12ftlbs rifle  .....

well if i could shoot this well all the time i would take up the sport seriously, very well done man and please up date when you have done some more shooting.

Thanks Pietre. I do take FT quite seriously I shoot most Grand prix,s and Winter leagues, I also shoot the European Championships and the World Championships when possible. I have made some special Long Range Target boards up at work, they are 600x400mm, some with 40mm squares and some with 1 inch squares. I am shooting a GP this weekend but will try to do more tests shortly then get some pics of my groups. Regards. Neil.

Don't put idea's in peoples heads Neil, our winter league courses are hard enough without this!
Nice shooting though mate, I'm gonna have to keep my eye on you this winter.

Yeah!! just imagine, a 40mm kill at 85yds. You would still hit it, revered bearded one.

PS: sorry about the loss of a friend. I know how it feels, losing 5 mates in 1 year due to motorcycle accidents.

See you soon.

Neil.
