Fine indelible marker pen straight onto the sidewheel, then wrap with magictape to stop the markings wearing off. :)

i think the ones ive seen have been done by a b&q jobby pal, there not very expensive, but i guess a trophy type of shop could do it if you fancied something special ?

personally, i'd steer away from etching...if you take the wheel off or use it on another scope, the chances are they will never quite line up...and if you have a bad range you might want to change it.

that said, what you could do is etch the entire wheel with markings .5-1mm apart, then just colour in the ones you want to use...a bit of rubbing with cleaning fluid would see them off if you want to change them.
