Well the time has come to start rolling my own,was going to use the same load as the guy who's been doing my ammo so far. However as unique seems to be impossible to get a hold of i'm looking for other powders and loads.Any idea's would be welcome,it would for .44 mag case and 240gr head.

Just a nice easy target load for 25mts max.

The N340 load is the one I use in my standard 1894 marlin, the powder is easy to get hold of and it meters well but it does blacken the cases so tumbling every time is essential but most low loads will do this.
Full load info was.
Remington .44mag case
Winchester Lg pistol primer
240grn RNFP cast lead bullet
5.7 grns Vita N340 (.61 lee autodisk)
bullet seated to top of canule with a light crimp.
Thanks for that, vit is available locally just hope they have what i need.

Alliant is back in the country, just took delivery of 2 tubs of Blue Dot, my favourite, from Weston & Weston - £6 delivery charge I think it was. I use 7.5gr in my .357 mag and mates down the club rate the same powder for .44 highly, staring load is 13.1gr with 240gr jacketed bullet according to my Lee manual but for short range target i would go with nearer 8-10gr.

I use noblesport gm3 i know this powder was intended for ,410 shotgun loads
but it works well in .44 mag try 5Grn give or take .5 Grn
It burns very clean and is quite cheap.
Thanks Steve

Hi,I use vit 140,in all my loads, that is my .223,.308,k98,and my marlin .357 .its a good all round powder. And if you download the loading data from vit, you'll have all the info you can handle for starting loads for just about every cal under the sun.Enjoy!:)
