would 52grain amax be ok in a .223 with a 1-7 twist barrell or would the twist be too fast for them,wanted to use speer 50g tnt as i do like them but think the twist is too fast as speer state no faster than 1-10 though have used them in 1-9 with fantastic results

I have had them running at 4000 fps from a 1-10 22-250 AI, and they were very accurate and no issues with so-called overstabalising. My 1-9 223 was chucking them out at 3400. I expect you will get the same velocity and from that, I think you will be fine.

cheers blue my local shop has just started to stock hornady and the 75grainers are good but want something fast and flat

The 75s are excellent, but the 223 just cant get them moving that quick. The trajectory is very pronounced. The 52 A-Max is the best .224 head going in my opinion.

the 75 grain don,t half buck the wind,i tried them out at 200yrds on a target against 55g remington and it was blowing a hooley.i had 10inches of drift on the 55s compared to just under 21/2 on the 75s.i know what i,d use on a windy night out foxing;)

Absolutely; and the drop can be plotted and remembered. Wind is far more difficult to decipher.

the 75s work well with the burris ballistic plex,zero at 100 the 200 yrd mark is spot on and 300 is only an inch low.have just ordered some 52amax from sportsmans and should have them next week

I have about 800 heads here darrell that will be on the fourum at the end of aprill mate due to cal change:rolleyes:(52g)
