View Full Version : May Spring Power Competition

Pad. E
22-04-2008, 08:20 AM
Hi All.

As May begins mid week & we have all been itching to get it underway :D

I've set the date as follows.

Competition:Monday 28th April - Friday 2nd May

Submit Scores: Friday 2nd May - Saturday 3rd May
(By PM only once ALL scores are in they will be made public, gives it more suspence ;))

Public Scores: Saturday 3rd May - Sunday 4th May

Score Sheet
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b312/PaddyE/Pistol%20Competition/scoresheet6-1.jpg
I just need your PISTOL,TYPE & CALIBRE that is being used

The rules :

Type: Spring Pistol / Single Stroke Pistol (to be stated when submitting score).

Sights: Open sights only

Stance: Top two targets two handed / Bottom two targets one handed (that way it caters for everyone & abit different)

Targets: Follow link on post #1 >HERE< (http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270186) using the target with 4 targets on it.

Range: Set at 6yds (That is the longest I can shoot in the back garden)

Shots: 10/15 practice shots, then 5 shots per target

Date: Anytime in the first week of every month. Starting May.

Scoring: If the pellet breaks into two points i.e 8 & 9, you score the highest number

Final scores: PM me with scores by Friday/Saturday.

Update scores: I'll put on the thread Saturday/Sunday.

If anyone has any questions just let me know & good luck.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I going to run a virtual badge system, according to the scores that we get.
They are as follows :-

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b312/PaddyE/Pistol%20Competition/ColourKeyPistolComp.jpg

I will have all your scores worked out in percentage & award the relative virtual badge. :D

Now my badge design is pants so I'm not showing you until I submit results.

Then each month someone else can design a different set of badges.

Regards
Paddy. :)

An idea is an idea, however me personally think it's a good one. :)

It is up to you if you want to submit the pellets. But when you submit your scores just put what pellet you used ;) So one month it might be different, I just update that one accordingly.

Why would you want to do that

My opinion is to use 'one' set of pellets for the set targets, to save on confusion & less complicated. ;) :)

double handed bis mags are very good but single handed, you just can't manage the extra recoil.....try it:)

ikarma70
23-04-2008, 01:12 PM
they are great double handed use, handful single handed.

harvey_s
23-04-2008, 01:52 PM
but single handed, you just can't manage the extra recoil.....try it:)

Is it extra recoil or just the fact that a two handed grip provides a much more stable shooting platform?
My POI is considerably higher when using just one-hand - I assume that my finger around the front of the trigger guard was preventing barrel lift just through having a piston travelling toward me on firing...

ikarma70
23-04-2008, 01:58 PM
if i use ftt's or superdomes single handed i get better groups but looser and higher grouping with bis mags.

It's looking bad for me getting the spoon (NOT) I just printed off the targets and they're a bit bigger than the ones I used last week. I might even hit double figures.... Watch this space!

Although........ the ones I printed off appear to go up to 11, have I printed the wrong ones? They go up to eight with figures and there are three more scoring rings inside that, including the bull. Does that just count as 10 as well or have I printed the wrong target? I took the 1st page for 6 yards from the link in the first post.

Hi lads well me and my lad have just finished our first training/practice session, its taken a while to set up as .22 pellets were ricocheting off the back board all over the shop and at 6 yards the buggers sting when they hit . Any-way managed to mount the targets on a littlewoods catalogue and this has sorted out the bouncing terrors. That one handed buisness isnt as easy as you think is it?.
The real shoot off starts tomorrow night as soon as i finish work, we've decided 5 practice shots each then GAME ON.
Jordan (my lad )doesn't know it yet but this weeks pocket money might be on hold if i lose:D

Hi Guys.

God I'm sad :p

Regards
Paddy. :)

Sorry lads I'm not going to be able to shoot and post results in time. I have a house full of visitors (and have had all week) and need to shoot upstairs through two rooms to be able to make the 6 yards, without beginning divorce procedures.
I can't shoot outside or I'd get the opportunity to check out which firearms the local armed response team are using PDQ. :(

I'll try and shoot it tomorrow when I should have more space or have time to get my arse down the range.

Sorry.

Hi Pete

If you can submitt your score Saturday evening I'll put it on the score sheet. I don't people will mind, will except for 'cookie' who's getting abit impatient :D . As in part of the rules you have until Saturday to submit them to me ;)

I know it can be hard to find the 'right' time when at home to shoot.

So next month I'm looking at slightly differnt days so to accommadate people that shoot at the range at the weekend.

That is the main thing is that you enjoy it. This gives you more 'purpose to go out & shoot. I've had my HW45 for years & never took it seriously until now. I'm a real pants shot & when I suggested doing this I knew I'd never come first, but I'm enjoying it & trying to improve.

OK my scores are in. :)

I had to sneak in a quick shoot while the missus was out at the shops with a friend. Managed to sort out six yards form along the upstairs landing and into the Loo, where my targets, and cardboard backstop were balanced on top of the wicker bath towel box. It would have been really expensive if I'd had a bad shot as the only thing behind all this is the double glazed bathroom window.

Next month I'm shooting across the bedrooms with both doors open (more than 10m) no matter who is staying. I'll just have to design a range flag and danger notice for the bottom of the stairs. :D

Hi Folks......as we allow spring and single stroke pneumatics in the comp I honestly cant see a reason why we cant allow pcp pistols as shooting them is basically the same as a single stroke and I can see no special advantages here...just my thoughts as I now have all three af these varieties and would enjoy shooting them all in the comp...I shoot just as cr~p with 'em all anyway!!
It is a fun comp after all...yes??.....:)
Eric.

I like the idea of spring and single stroke as you have to put a bit of effort in to cock it which means you have to take each shot from the begining, unlike some of our multi shot co2's where you line the first shot up and fire another 7 straight after without moving.

Though it does sound like you are offering to start up a Co2 only Comp Eric.

I'm sure Paddy would mail you his score sheet to get you started, we already have our targets and rules. I would add one rule if this goes ahead that after each shot the pistol has to return to the shooters side before the next shot can be taken. ;)

What do you say Eric :D

Idea.

I would submit the PCP scores but I won't put on the positions sheet. If there are more people who would like to use PCP pistols I could do a duplicate sheet. As I've already got the format all I need to do is change the wording.

We can discuss this & see what the general concenus is.

Hi I'm considering it.

I shall be doing a suggesting/poll for Junes comp soon enough.

With the idea of four catogories:- Spring / Single Stroke / Co2 / PCP

I've just been doing another spead sheet, so if it's a go ahead I can use it straight away ;)

Just need to know how many will be wanting to use what type. I say a minimum of 5 per catogory. Spring & SSP are already sorted, just the other two need to be finalised.

Paddy. :)
